This hotel has a perfect location for the centre of Glasgow. It is situated right nextdoor to Queen Street Station, but you honestly would not know once you are inside the hotel.

10 of us arrived for a two night stay at the beginning of September. When we arrived, just after 10 am, 3 of the rooms were ready and we checked in, the other two were available when we returned from a spot of shopping! Two of the rooms were of average size but well laid out. The only gripe I had was that bathrobes would have been useful. Otherwise, everything was clean and well maintained and plenty of towels. The other three rooms were large to say the least - you could quite easily have had a party, including dancing. They were BIG! The staff we found to be more than helpful and friendly. They were excellent at advising of places to visit, etc., how to get there and booking tables for meals (10 being a difficult number at short notice).

The lobby was inviting and very comfortable to relax and have a drink after serious shopping and sightseeing! The prices were good too. 10 drinks for £30!

Breakfast was good. My only complaint was that there were no tomatoes with the cooked breakfast. There were juices, various breads, fresh fruit, cold meats, fish, cereal - just about anything. The dining area was very tastefully decorated and inviting.

All in all, this is an excellent hotel, well situated and we did not have any complaints. We contacted the hotel direct to book and we got an excellent deal. I have to say that we did book 3 months in advance. I was dubious about going after reading earlier comments about the hotel - especially as I had organised it for everyone else - but my fears were unfounded - EXCELLENT.

I am sorry that I do not have any pictures but it was great.

  • Disliked — No tomatoes with the cooked breakfast!

Not bad, but you're better off in the Malmaison

This is by no means a bad hotel. The reception, bar and breakfast room are very pleasant. However, the location can be very noisy. I was awoken by the noise of traffic outside at 05.20.

The room was huge. I think it was around 5m x 5m. It wasn't bad, but it was quite dated. If you're weighing up this hotel against the Malmaison, I highly recommend the Malmaison. The rooms are smaller, but are finished to a much higher ********.

In the heart of the city, the hotel is convenient for any visitor - in walking distance to business, restaurants, shops, and train station. Staff friendly and helpful. Location-wise, we were very happy that we chose the Millennium rather than the Hilton, Radisson, or Marriott.
Despite a few reviews stating shabby rooms, our room was fine. The rooms are not the same standard as other Millenniums at which I've stayed, just basic 3 star and CLEAN (but location and staff more than compensate for this). The lobby is 4 star and has a wonderful bistro overlooking George Square.

Hotel continental breakfast 'very' average. Across the square and to the right are pleasant cafes for coffee and breakfast. Arriving by car, you are allowed 5 minutes to unload in front of the hotel (despite signs to the contrary). The garage is only a few blocks away and once you have your ticket validated by reception, it is only 6 pounds daily.

For the seasoned business traveller, do NOT book the Executive Floor - way below par: no breakfast or afternoon snacks served in club lounge, cocktail wines rough, and though booking through expedia it stated that Executive Rooms included daily paper - it was extra.

Would definitely stay here again - location, location, location, staff, and cleanliness!!

Room excellent overlooking the square at the front
so location unbeatable
must be well soundproofed as tranquil
Public areas tasteful old world charm
Staff very pleasant
However breakfast is terrible unless you
dream of watery cool scrambled egg
luke warm bacon and sausages
The coffee just about ok
We stayed three nights and breakfast was included
Why do otherwise good hotels continue to inflict
crap breakfasts when for a small cost they could
provide a good fresh memorable start to the day?
Beats me

Hi
We stayed in this hotel the last two days in April. The situation of the hotel is very central with the railway station very very near. The Millenium is urgently needing a refurbishment with peeling grubby paintwork very evident in the bedrooms.
We had a standard room to begin with but all that separated ours from the next was a single door locked on both sides which had virtually no soundproofing. We could hear our neighbours very clearly and their television even better.
A change of room was easily enough arranged with helpful receptionists but the room given to us had a sink that was blocked and we had to clean our teeth in the bath.Another change was quickly organised; this time to a huge 'club' room, it was still as grubby but at least the sink emptied.
Breakfast was appalling! There is nothing worse than poorly heated full breakfast but that's what we were given.
Even the cocktail bar performed badly. Two nights running there was no cherry brandy for the
Singapore sling my wife craved for and the gin martini alternative had no twist of lemon or olive. Now how bad is that?
Tommy
