I stayed at the Millenium last week for work purposes and found it lacking somewhat. On the outside it was deceptively befitting of a 4* rated hotel. However, once inside my room ( a club) I found that it was freezing cold no matter how high I turned the one tiny radiator next to the door! The room itself was average and not exactly clean - I came across an empty crisp packet by the wall socket and pubic hair in the ensuite bath tub. In addition, the decor was a very outdated 70s beige! I also paid for breakfast each morning I was there and I was quite disappointed at the selection available. One morning I opted for a change from the buffet and orderd Eggs Benedict. It was awful - completely drowned in hollandaise sauce with huge chunks of cold ham. I ate what I could but it left me feeling sick to be honest. There was no value for money at all, it would have been better to nip to Mcdonalds for a sausage and egg mcmuffin!

We have recently returned from a two night stay at the Millennium Hotel in Glasgow.

Glasgow itself was fantastic, we attended a Folk Concert at the Old Fruit Market , a great venue - stood in the balcony with a super view of the stage, though we could have had cabaret seating down below which would have been fine.

We ate at restaurants over in the West End in Acton Lane, a trrendy area with a great atmosphere, buzzing with night life and were able to get the subway train for just £1.10 each from there to our hotel in the centre. Would recommend the Spanish Tapas Restaurant and the Belgian restaurant "Brel"

We had a tour around the Glasgow School of Art, all designed by Mackintosh lead by a very enthusiastic student who certainly knew her stuff. We followed this with tea at the Willow Tea Rooms. We then visited the University and the Hunterian Museum which was fascinating!

Next day we drove out to Helensburgh via Loch Lomond and visited Hill House, another of Mackintosh's designed houses, a bright sunny day which showed off the design to its best advantage.

On the down side, we had taken a Club Room at the Millenium for a touch of luxury but it turned out to have an extremely draughty bathroom and the main Standard Lamp bulb did not work. We asked for these to be sorted and they left us an electric heat to plug in ( not good in a bathroom ) and did not fix the lamp. The breakfast was very varied and extremely filling though.

Two weeks prior to this on a flying visit we had stayed at the Premier Inn near Charing Cross and the room at half the price was twice as nice !

Would certainly recommend Glasgow for a weekend , we have so much left to see on future visits. Very pleased our son has chosen this city for the next four years of his academic life !

The hotel was very convenient, but the website gave the misleading impression of a modern hotel. There's no gym and no internet connection (wireless or wired) as standard in the rooms. There is wireless in the bar, but it's very slow. A typical partly refurbished railway hotel, that's achieved it's 4 star rating through putting in trouser presses etc. rather than looking at the quality overall.

We booked into the Millennium Glasgow on the 3rd October 2008 for two nights. The location of the hotel is excellent for seeing the commercial centre of Glasgow. The hotel is located on George Square. The train station is right behind the hotel. We had a front room over looking the square and we could not fault the view.
Checking in
We arrived early and were well looked after until the room became available. Gary White (bar manager) was excellent. We off loaded our bags from our car at the side entrance and then took the car to the car park. It is ten minutes away. The hotel lobby area and corridors were impressive.
The room
We had a large room and it was clean, bright but little sparse of furniture and needed a little sprucing up. The room and the bathroom were very clean and tidy.
Breakfast
Breakfast was in the price of the room and was a buffet style. Over all, the breakfast selection was excellent, with a good toaster, which was working. Coffee was good. Again the staff was very attentive. Scrambled eggs were a little cool, but the staff quickly brought us a new supply from the kitchen. Sitting out on the veranda for breakfast overlooking George Square is not to be missed.
Staff
We can recommend the staff for attention to detail and help in the hotel.
Would I stay here again?
Yes, we found the staff excellent, the amenities and the bar staff very attentive.

I stayed here a couple of nights ago as was having a night out in Glasgow. The front of the hotel and reception is very nice and light.
Was therefore disappointed when got to our room which was really dark (due to tiny window at side of room) and old fashioned.
The bathroom was very nice and much brighter but was let down by a cracked floor tile (with a very sharp edge to it) and a damp patch on the bathroom ceiling.
Also the water for the shower took a very long time to heat up, I actually called reception who sent someone up to check the water, it eventually heated up, this must have taken between 10-15 minutes.
I probably would not stay here again unless was stuck, just pretty disappointed as expected better quality from a 4 star hotel.
