Oct 12, 2008 | Trip type: Couples

We booked into the Millennium Glasgow on the 3rd October 2008 for two nights. The location of the hotel is excellent for seeing the commercial centre of Glasgow. The hotel is located on George Square. The train station is right behind the hotel. We had a front room over looking the square and we could not fault the view.
Checking in
We arrived early and were well looked after until the room became available. Gary White (bar manager) was excellent. We off loaded our bags from our car at the side entrance and then took the car to the car park. It is ten minutes away. The hotel lobby area and corridors were impressive.
The room
We had a large room and it was clean, bright but little sparse of furniture and needed a little sprucing up. The room and the bathroom were very clean and tidy.
Breakfast
Breakfast was in the price of the room and was a buffet style. Over all, the breakfast selection was excellent, with a good toaster, which was working. Coffee was good. Again the staff was very attentive. Scrambled eggs were a little cool, but the staff quickly brought us a new supply from the kitchen. Sitting out on the veranda for breakfast overlooking George Square is not to be missed.
Staff
We can recommend the staff for attention to detail and help in the hotel.
Would I stay here again?
Yes, we found the staff excellent, the amenities and the bar staff very attentive.

I stayed here a couple of nights ago as was having a night out in Glasgow. The front of the hotel and reception is very nice and light.
Was therefore disappointed when got to our room which was really dark (due to tiny window at side of room) and old fashioned.
The bathroom was very nice and much brighter but was let down by a cracked floor tile (with a very sharp edge to it) and a damp patch on the bathroom ceiling.
Also the water for the shower took a very long time to heat up, I actually called reception who sent someone up to check the water, it eventually heated up, this must have taken between 10-15 minutes.
I probably would not stay here again unless was stuck, just pretty disappointed as expected better quality from a 4 star hotel.

Very convenient location, right in the heart of the city (which of course means it's a bit noisy at night). The staff were all charming and helpful. The restaurant was good; we ate there on the first night and would have done so again but it was closed for a wedding reception. Also had very nice sandwiches in the bar area on one occasion but on a second occasion we waited so long for our order to be brought that we ended up cancelling it. Bedrooms were a bit dingy and average. The carpet in the communal areas looked as though it needed hoovering (and it wasn't done while we were there).

  • Liked — convenience of location
  • Disliked — shabbier accommodation than I expected for 4 star

Sep 9, 2008 | Trip type: Friends getaway

Me and a friend stayed here during a shopping weekend to Glasgow. When I booked the hotel I requested a view of George Square whic we got!

Rooms was modern, very clean and provided everything that the traveller could need including a safe in the wardrobe. Especially liked the lighting in the wardrobe, nice touch!

Only one downside - The housekeeping staff are very noisey in the mornings - not good when you have a slight hangover. Hotel - you really need to address this. Not very good to hear this kind on noise on a Sunday morning before 9am!!

Apart from that, enjoyable stay. Will return - if the housekkeping are reigned in over the noise!

  • Liked — The view of George Square
  • Disliked — Noisey housekeeping staff - grhhhh!!!

We stayed at the Millenium Glasgow on the 5th September 2008. The location of the hotel could not be faulted. Its attached to Queen street station and just a short walk from Glasgow Central Station.

The hotel itself is located on George Square which is the heart of the city. It's close to all the shops and attractions.

The hotel has a great lobby area and even the corridors to the rooms are impressive. Unfortunately when you open the door to the room it's a bit of a let down.

We had a club room over looking the square. The room was clean to a fashion but was not spotless. The TV reception was poor. Overall the room was dated and just looked like a lick of paint and some new bedding would make all the difference.

Would I stay here again? Yes if it was just for one or two nights and location was more important than a relaxing retreat at the end of the day.

If my budget would stretch then I would stay at the Radisson SAS which is of a much higher standard. (wish I had spent the extra £30 per night. I have also been told the Hilton and Marriott are very good and also the Carlton.

If you have booked this. Don't worry you wont be blown away but the staff are friendly and the room is clean to a reasonable standard you will just notice the odd things
