I did not like the first room I was allocated at the front on the first floor. The noise from the crowds (oasis & football fans) outside, the (up & down) workings of the lifts next door & the keenos thumping their stuff from 5.30am in fitness room to one side. When I eventually dropped off after Mr. Macho had finished working out I got (not just one, but two - 15 minutes apart) wake-up calls I definitely did not order. I made 2 complaints (one immediately on arrival & the other in pyjamas, shattered, at 6am next morning)about the room and I was promised I would be moved the next day. I got a prompt and very polite visit from Stuart, the duty manager, to sort out my difficulties. Much appreciated.

Sure enough, after lunch, I was moved to a lovely room with a fantastic view across The Clyde. In fact the view was so good I feel I could live there permanently, just staring out of the window and playing with the free PC.

The breakfast was absolutely THE BEST EVER - another reason I could make this my permanent residence. The choice was awesome. I had porridge and Loch Fyne smoked haddock, poached egg, back bacon and tomatoes. Taste bud heaven! Must mention the restaurant staff too - Excellent, full marks - I'd employ them all!....Oh and in addition the view from the restaurant was extremely pleasant.

Likewise dinner was absolutely delicious and the service again spot on. I had planned to go into town but was glad I hadn't. Unfortunately on the second night of my stay I was hoping to repeat such a savouring of the culinary delights but the 10 or so rowdies shouting on an ajoining table made it impossible to hear the music (I could just about detect I was missing my favourite Jeff Buckley track - 'Hallelujah' at one point) or hear oneself or one's partner speak and so we retired before desert. Shame about that - although a waitress apologised the next morning at breakfast for the racket of the evening before.

Over all a very enjoyable stay at the City Inn in friendly, bonny Glasgow and I look forward to a return visit - as long as I get the room I want!

Good for SECC

Located 5 minutes walk from SECC in Glasgow & ideal if you are going to a show as we were. We paid £69 (non refundable advance purchase) for room only for 2 which is not really cheap but not too bad considering it was the night of a Lee Evans show at the SECC nearby. They also have an extensive free car park which saves you the hassle & cost of parking if are visiting the SECC with an overnight stay.

Room not large but modern with all you need as you would expect although TV a bit complicated unless you are young & a techie but we didn't really use it. The receptionist even felt she had to tell us how to switch it on when we checked in.

No problems encountered.

This hotel is fab for the price! We had the City Club room which is fantastic as it offers early checkin and late checkout so was great for our night out in Glasgow!

Yes its not in the best location, but its safe, and a taxi into the city centre area is about £6/£7 so we didn't mind paying for that. The showers are lovely, and there were White Company products and robes in the bathroom. The Apple TV was a trendy touch, and connecting my laptop to the wireless connection was faultless.

We also had food in the bar which was very good, and later had a drink in the bar...again good service and we couldn't complain about a thing.

I would definitely stay here again!

If you must stay in Glasgow, you can't go wrong with this place. Rooms are comfortable and modern, and the iMac in the room with free internet access is a very nice touch. Breakfast is good quality with a reasonable selection. The location next to Finnieston Bridge is a bit out of the centre in a slightly deserted area, but this has several benefits - free parking and a quiet night's sleep away from the raucous Glasgow nightlife. A taxi from Buchanan Street costs less than £5.

My boyfriend and myself stayed at the city inn for my birthday in May 07. The hotel is beautiful, bright and tastefully decorated.

Our room was at the road side, but we hardly heard a thing (even with hundreds of screaming girls walking by after a Justin Timerlake concert).

Have to say we had a great night and have booked to stay again later this year after the Oasis concert.

Would also say the shower is AMAZING, power shower and a half. If your in Glasgow and want to be in the city centre, but not in the hustle & bustle book this hotel, its only a 5min taxi journey into the town for anyone wanting to see the sights. Its worth every penny.
