“Handy”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed December 9, 2012

Stayed for one night at this hotel. It was clean and comfortable and the reception and booking in very easy. This hotel is in an ideal situation for the SSEC auditorium as well as the Armadillo and the Science Museum. We were attending a radio show at the BBC studios which, along with the STV studios, are within walking distance. There is a restaurant in the hotel and also other very good restaurants nearby. The only amazing thing was that when we went for a drink to the hotel bar they did not have any blended Scotch whisky. A hotel in the largest city in Scotland with no Scotch blended whisky? Doh!. They did however have a blended Irish whisky and also Scotch malt.
All in all a good hotel in a good location.

Room Tip: Ask for a room overlooking the River Clyde.

Dear flembo69

Thank you for your review.

Please accept my apologies for the shortage in blended whisky – demand had been higher than expected however this was replaced the next day. One of our malts was reduced to the blended price to ensure value for money.

Kind Regards,
Brian

“Top Notch Hotel for Central Glasgow”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed December 8, 2012 via mobile

Stayed here on a Friday night. Booked a meeting room for a reunion where food and drink was served by the attentive staff. Food and wine was also fantastic and recommended. For a Friday night I was surprised at how quiet the hotel was and the view from the room over the river was superb. Breakfast was also brilliant with a fresh waffle machine the highlight. Thoroughly recommended

“I like this hotel”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed December 6, 2012

I have stayed here before as a City and a Mint branded hotel. Staff still have a smile are a very friendlt and helpful the transition to Hilton has maintained MACs int he rooms and all the usual refinements. Surprised that the mini bar was not stacked especially when arriving late at night. Breakfast excellent and new gym much bigger than previous fitness romm. Well done all round, I am back again next week and look forward to staying here.

“Definitely recommended”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed December 6, 2012

The staff were very friendly and helpful, check-in went smoothly and my queries regarding the whereabouts of the nearest ATM and a taxi for the next morning were quickly sorted. The room was comfortable and clean and the bed very comfortable. The hotel had everything i required for an overnight stop - a decent shower, free wifi and a great breakfast.

The breakfast room was very nice and overlooked the river. I cannot fault breakfast, there was a really good choice and the staff on duty were very pleasant and helpful.

If i was visiting Glasgow as a tourist or visiting the SECC i would certainly recommend staying here although i must say that next time i'm just overnighting in Glasgow between flights i would probably find somewhere nearer to the airport.

“Nice hotel, shame about the noise”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed December 6, 2012

My wife and I were staying in Glasgow for a couple of days and after a bit of research decided on this hotel as it was quite central and had a nice view. Room was nice, nice bathroom. Check in was simple and staff were friendly.
The hotel itself is narrow, this never seemed a problem till our second night. My wife is five months pregnant and after a full day of shopping and the cinema she was tired and wanted an early night. Unfortunately the hotel had a Christmas party on downstairs and the music was so loud you could hear the words of the songs and also the Djs voice from the 3rd floor. She managed to get to sleep but got woken up a couple of times. I called the desk for an explanation and the staff were helpful. the night manager apologised and offered to move us but as it was 2300 this was unpractical. The party stopped at 0000 and the music stopped. We were given a discount of that nights rate and our car parking charges were comped.
This did not appear to be the staffs fault but the hotel is not suitable for a quiets night sleep and holding parties. not ideal for a 4 star hotel.
Apart from the noise the hotel is lovely, breakfast was nice and staff are friendly. When checking in make sure there are no events on and if there are I would recommend asking for a high floor on the other side of the hotel.
