What a great hotel the Kelvin is. Far from the 'madding crowd of central Glasgow but close enough for all you need for a happy stay. Location is perfect, bus to Glasgow at the front door, A variety of good restaurants in walking distance, the beautiful Botanical Gardens next door. Taxi rank at the end of the street.
Staff are very accomodating and helpful Linda and her team are efficient , and knowledgeable , Breakfast was good and promptly served ,Rooms clean and the appartment next door is a dream.
TWO VERY SATISFIED AUSTRALIANS WHO WILL BE BACK.

We stayed for 3 nights here in two singles in the basement.
The place is clean, the breakfast very nice, and the managers very helpful. Our car was safe in their little parking lot.
The problem for us was the smoking. This hotel has chosen to keep smoking rooms and for that reason, we would not go back.
We booked through the Scottish tourist agency. These were the last affordable rooms in town due to a golf event.
It is convenient. There is a library with lots of internet very close.
It's a 15 minute walk to the Kelvingrove.

When considering this hotel please be guided by the majority of reviews on the site. The hotel is cosy and comfortable. It's spotlessly clean and if you look at the prices you'll see what good value it is. I stayed there for 5 nights and was well pleased with my room and the hearty breakfast I got each morning. Although there is not a reception as such, there is a bell to ring and staff are on duty all day long. The location of the hotel is fine and, as it's set back from the road, you can get a good night's sleep. It will be very convenient for the soon to be opened Kelvingrove Museum. I'll be recommending this hotel to my friends and would certainly stay there again.

I would not consider this to be a hotel in the true sense of the word. There is no proper reception, and staff or owner are not available most times even during the day for any queries. The bedroom was very small on the lower ground floor and was just adequate. The breakfast was ok if you liked eggs, because there was very little choice on the cooked menu otherwise. The other major problem is that they advertise car parking at rear. I can assure that you do not even wish to try and park yr car there as ther is room for 3 cars(small) without being blocked in, and staff occupy 1 at least every day. Street parking is no better on the one way terraces and it is very much pot luck. The positive is that it was clean, and handy to local shopping and restaurants, but this part of the West End has deteriorated in the last few years. I would advise caution in booking this hotel, being carefull to find exactly what type of room you will get.

The Kelvin Hotel offers a nice location (very close to the Botanic Gardens and a short walk to the University of Glasgow). My room was very clean and not as small as I'd imagined. The included breakfast is great, but offered a little early. Overall, the hotel is a good value and if I stayed in this part of town again, I'd stay here.
