Despite working in Glasgow for years I only discovered it existed after I'd moved away and was on a return nostalgia trip. Really interesting of itself and some fantastic views across Glasgow

“Necropolis, Glasgow Cathedral, Scotland”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed September 19, 2013

We spent the afternoon at the Cathedral, it was drizzly off and on, but while we were walking through the Necropolis, the sun was shining and it was late afternoon. The afternoon sunshine and clouds made for some nice pictures. The Necropolis is probably more of an "attraction" for people interested in Glasgow history or ancestry or maybe photography. It is an OK walk, but not for children or even teens. There is actually some graffiti on some of the stones which is disappointing to see. The best part of our visit was our time in the cathedral during their evening service. It seems visitors are allowed to come and go during the service, which is very lovely. The small choir of men and women filed in, gathered into a semi circle and sang the hymn: Immortal, Invisible. The sound of the choir voices inside the vast cathedral was absolutely breathtaking. It is a moment during our visit that we will never forget! Thank you!

“The Most Over-the Top Cemetary I've Ever Seen”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed September 19, 2013

Aside from the interesting mausoleums and crypts, not to mention the baroque headstones, a walk through the Necropolis gives you a great view of the Glasgow Cathedral.

We met some fellows in from Belgium for the game against Scotland and had a nice chat before heading back down and back to our hotel.

This was a foray into the glory days of funeral direction..the monuments are just awesome...the historical significance of this venue is underrated. A horse/mule drawn ,narrated tour would be worth the money..actors?? Loved it!

“Pretty incredible”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 17, 2013

We were fortunate to have a sunny day to walk through The Necropolis after visiting the Cathedral. It could be challenging for some to walk the hills but just go at your own pace and you will do fine and see more!
