“Great tour and Dram”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed April 8, 2013

Very enjoyable and interesting tour in a beautiful setting.
Price was very reasonable at £7.50 for 1 hour tour with a dram of 12 year old at the start or £10 for the same tour with a dram of 18 year old at the end as well. there are tours that last an hour and a half with more tastings. You also get a £5 discount voucher to spend in the shop.
It could have been made better if we could have seen where they age all the casks.
Our guide was Pauline and she was great fun. Highly recommended.

“picturesque, informative, but a bit rushed.”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed April 4, 2013

Glengoyne certainly has a very picturesque setting. Very attractive visitor centre with a view on a waterfall ad a great start of the tour. Unusually, you get your dram at the beginning of the tour, while watching a video, and finish it outside on a little terrace overlooking the waterfall. That really stands out.

The rest of the tour was just good. The tour guide was funny and cracking jokes all the time. Without it, the tour would have been very average. You don't get to see as much of the production process as in other distilleries, but you can learn how whisky is made if it is your first ever visit. It was also a bit rushed. There is no photography allowed. There is a warehouse across the road but it's closed to visitors. If the last four points were changed, it would have been an excellent visit.

On the plus side, aside from the location, their shop is very very good. You can get a distillery only Teapot Dram whisky there which is unusual and very good. And I also heard from friends running the Edinburgh Whisky Blog, that they do specialist whisky-blending masterclasses which are well worth a steep fee.

So altogether a place worth visit but could do slightly better.

“Whiskey tour was great”

We did a detailed tour of how whiskey was made and had a couple of tastes of their fine whiskey. Very informative and a superb tour.

“Well worth a visit!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 2, 2013

Excellent way to spend a couple of hours even for non-drinkers like myself. Very interesting, staff are helpful and friendly. Tour was really good with lots of information. Different types of tours available eg tasting or non tasting.
Ordered personalized goods from shop and they were delivered in two days, excellent service.
Well worth a visit.

“Leaves you wanting more than the one dram!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 31, 2013 via mobile

Not your everyday tour which is why this was all the better.

I can only highly recommend the visit which was engaging and very informative. Everybody who works there obviously takes a pride in the work and great pains are taken to make you welcome as a stranger and leave feeling like you want to be part of the Glengoyne Family.

If I ever get the chance I would love to try the master class. What I learned in the space of an hour will last a lifetime and has changed my view and my palate as far as whiskey is concerned!

Don't hesitate to go, my partner & I were glad we didn't.
