We were very disappointed in this hotel. My husband and I stayed for our first anniversary on Saturday night and we were very much looking forward to our romantic getaway.

We could not get over how small the rooms were, the bed takes up most of it, the bathroom was tiny, there was no air in the room, our view from our room was a brick wall, the window would not shut properly and there was no alarm clock. We were charged £85 for our room which I personally think is far too much money and was day light robbery.

There is also no mention of the nightclub on their website that was situated directly below us (it actually felt like it was going on in our bathroom, it was so noisy).

I would only recommend this hotel to students who couldn't care less where they stay and just want somewhere to fall down after they have been in the nightclub downstairs.

I personally think that the hotel needs to re-focus and re-price at the bottom end of the market, or spend some serious money to match its over inflated view itself.

There is minimalist chic and there is providing the bare minimum, and I am afraid this hotel provided the latter.

Stayed 3 nights in July--began & ended our Scotland visit here. Rooms--small & clean, ask for "upgrade" which they'll give automatically if not full. Value--Scotland's expensive--the Brunswick was a fair price. Modest breakfast included. Noise--a problem on 1st floor (2nd floor in U.S.) above the rest./bar--music thumps 'til midnight--sounds great in the bar, though! Reserve higher floors, back of hotel for quietest rooms. Location--excellent base for exploring Glasgow. Small supermarket doors away, restaurants & pubs near ("Cafe Gandolfi" our favorite for fresh & delicious variety; "Bar 91" good pub, & many others).
Glad we had a dinner at the hotel restaurant--good prices, upbeat atmosphere. Friendly staff & helpful front desk--Ellen took good care of our requests.
Glasgow is up-and-coming--enjoyed this city more than touristic/crowded (but lovely) Edinburgh. Definitely worth a visit!

  • Liked — location; helpful front desk staff
  • Disliked — bedcover (1-piece) too warm for summer; noise above the bar

Great location in the centre of town. Thats about all you can say for this very shabby run down little hotel. It's not even particularly clean. Better to stay at one of the chains.

What a find. Small, intimate, relatively new hotel in the heart of a thobbing old world city. The owners and staff were warm, welcoming, delightful and couldn't have been more accommodating. The on-site bar and restaurant( if they didn't have it on the menu they would make it for you) made it unnecessary to look anywhere else after a long day of touring. Great selection of wines also. Don't bother looking anywhere else.
