We stayed at the Brunswick Hotel for two nights on our recent trip to Scotland. Had we not travelled throughout Europe previously and experienced "European sized" rooms we might well have been dissapointed by the size of the room itself....it was quite small. However, what the room lacked in square footage, the cleanliness and superbly attentive staff made up for tenfold. The owners, Michael and Stephen, were extremely friendly and welcomed us into their establishment as if we were guests in their own home. The front desk staff was also very cordial and attentive to detail and promptly responded to two minor requests we made. The adjoining bar/bistro, had an extensive selection of both food and beverages and their clientele ranged from young professionals to an older more distinguished crowd....it's a sure bet that you'll find someone interesting to talk with! We really enjoyed our stay at the Brunswick. It was disappointing to read that other travellers did not share the same opinion of the place and it's proprietors. I would recommend the Brunswick Hotel whole-heartedly if you are looking for an urban location with a fun and lively environment!

This is a small hotel right in the centre of Glasgow and sits in the middle of a block in the Merchant City; if your looking for balcony views and presidential suites, perhaps you should look elsewhere. If you are however looking for a place to keep your stuff and lay your head while you are out enjoying Glasgow, its great. The rooms are small, but perfectly adequate. We stayed for one night in a superior room, which although had a view of the brick wall of the building next to it, had everthing you needed. It maybe isnt the type of room you could laze a day away in, but you dont come to a city to spend all your time in the hotel.
Great bar downstairs.
Only critisism: with the hangover we had the next day, you want really want something fried for breakfast!

This hotel really is cutting edge in presentation, well organised and in prime location. this said, the owner was the most arrogant, self-loving person which detracted from my stay and made me wish i went elsewhere.

Could not thank the wonderful and friendly staff enough. Fantastic food, and no cuisine minceur here thank you. Yes the place is small. Small hotel with personality not a faceless antheap.
Great to get around Glasgow and a great place to hold a party in the penthouse. Will be back.

I spent my honeymoon at The Brunswick in 2003, returned for our first anniversary and am staying again in February.
Like other recent reviewers I want to say how fantastic this hotel is. I have always found the staff friendly and helpful - possibly not the reception staff but definitely the bar staff in particular who recommended local bars and funky clubs which were trendy and much fun. The food is really nice, the bar funky (there's that word again - but it fits!) with a European atmosphere and a good choice of continental lagers. It has a really nice atmosphere - as have the dark red corridors!
The area is great - surrounded by bars and restaurants - try the Metropolitan on the next street - amazing!
This is definitely a place for young people who prefer a modern hotel with character at a relatively reasonable price (about £60) rather than somewhere generic with a larger room.
I recommend this hotel to all the funky people out there - give it a try!
