I wanted a resonable hotel quite central and that is exactly what you get with the Brunswick. I booked a compact room which cost £50 for one night, it had a double bed , small desk and shower en-suite. The room was small but slept 2 adults no problem. The lady on reception was fantastic and couldn't do enough to make your stay more enjoyable. The price included a buffet continental breakfast from the adjoining Italian cafe next door.
I would recommend this hotel and stay here again.

The hotel is quirky, a ‘minimalist’ small place linked to an Italian bar and deli. It is so unmarked that I wandered by it several times before I found the door marked ‘hotel’ and even then it was so dark inside I thought it was closed. The room was comfortable enough, but odd. There was free wi-fi but no desk to work at. The bed was ‘modern’ – low and not the softest, and the noise from the bar downstairs went on well into the night. I think it would have been a good place to stay if I had been on holiday and up for a late night in the bar downstairs. Not the best for a quiet night after a hard day's work. At least it was close to the Modern Gallery of Art which I'd been wanting to see. Authorities take the traffic cone off the head of the horseman every day, and a new one appears every morning.

... and you will be too if you hope to sleep here.
First, the staff were very sweet and helpful as I moved rooms three times trying to get some shut eye. Unfortunately I gave up after a couple of nights and left.
Overall, the Brunswick is rundown and desperately in need of a thorough makeover (not just the tacky paint job it has received). There is no heating control (when I was there every room sweltered), the walls are not sound proofed enough (you will feel the bass from the bar downstairs until midnight) and the room design is shoddy at best. On my second night I thought I was going to get ill from inhaling the cheap chemical bleach used to wash the sheets.
While the location and bar are great you can walk here from a number of other hotels in the area. I moved to the Millenium around the corner for the same sort of price -- a stuffier affair but infinitely better value hotel.

This place is wonderful. The entrance is classy, simple and spotless. The spark of their bar/restaurant nextdoor gives arrival an extra something - a promise of something GOOD.
The rooms are individually decorated with simplicity and extremely good taste. Again, spotless. And the bathroom! Well I was happy to spend a lot of time in there pampering and relaxing. Breakfast is self service with tea, coffee and toast on request, served in the bar/restaurant which gave it a real continental feel.
Now I must mention the staff of this exceptional establishment. From the wonderful hosts to the people on reception to the barstaff to housekeeping - everyone without exception was kind, generous, courteous, friendly and EFFICIENT. Everyone knew what they were doing and did it with confidence and a big smile. I felt safe and comfortable. I slept well and ate well.
I did not want to leave.
So a very big thank you to all at The Brunswick Hotel.
May you be blessed with every success.

Just stayed 2 nights at the Brunswick in the heart of Glasgow city centre. Why funky? Well there are stong reds and blues used in the decor.
The hotel was fairly basic - small entrance and reception, small bedroom, but clean throughout and bed comfortable. There is a cafe/restaurant/bar attached which I found noisy in the evening, but younger folk would probably like it. The food was tasty and reasonably priced. The continental breakfast was fine - the coffee excellent - real coffee, freshly prepared, not one of those jugs of over cooked coffee. I felt safe and comfortable staying there as a single female. The staff were relaxed and friendly. And finally - it was very reasonably priced for a city centre hotel. I'd be happy to stay there again.
