For anyone who is confused as to why the reviews for this place vary so much, it is because there are two halves to the hotel. The first time I stayed there, my room was to the RIGHT of reception. The room was nice enough, especially for the price, despite quite a lot of noise from the housecleaning staff in the morning. I would have recommended the hotel following my stay. In fact, I did, after moving to the city I recommended it to friends who had a similar experience with it.
However, when I got married and had a lot of family coming over, I recommended the hotel to my sister because the price was good and it had a family room. When they checked in, they were lead to the LEFT of reception to another wing of the hotel. The hallways were depressing and cramped and the room they were lead to was simply appalling. It looked like a prison dormitory, right down to the barbed wire outside the window. There was a boarded up door that exited out the back of the room that had obviously formerly served as the exit to the rubish bins out back. My sister and her family left after one night as the room was actually unsafe for the kids to stay in.
I spent a week apologising and trying to explain how shocking it was compared to the room I had stayed in. Basically, if you stay here, youre pressing your luck.
