The guest house has over 90 rooms. It is in a decent location close to Glasgow city centre and I suppose quite cheap. It is however very very basic and could do with nicer and cleaner bed linen and carpets. It can be noisy at night since it is quite populated and is also rather cold especially in the evenings. Breakfast is rather basic. Staff are friendly and were never rude. Place is convenient and relatively cheap but very basic.

  • Liked — convenient
  • Disliked — lack of cleanliness and cold at night

Unfriendly welcome - I don't like having to settle a bill on arrival and I certainly don't like writing my home address in a visitors book ( open to all ) to let people know that my home is, therefore, vacant whilst in Glasgow ( use a fictitious address - I did ). So, the hotel : dark, dingy. The room : pathetic lock that any decent burglar could have picked in seconds, filthy stained carpet, window that didn't fit, so the draught moved the curtains 6 inches. The other residents : noisy at 3am, didn't seem to care.. And the breakfast : "would you like Full Scottish Breakfast ?" "Yes, please".............so, egg, one piece of bacon, half a cold tomato, baked beans, potato cake...if that is a FULL Scottish breakfast then I'm a Dutchman ( I'm not ) Sadly almost all the fellow diners were foreigners who wouldn't have a CLUE what a FSB is. For the record : where was the sausage, Lorne sausage, mushrooms, Black pudding, fried bread that constitute a REAL Scottish breakfast ?????? Overall : an awful B&B that I cannot recommend to anyone.

I stayed at mclays with my boyfriend and two friends.
The room (4 bedded) was ok , the staff was very friendly, the price good and the location wonderful.
The breakfast was too early for us, but they always wait before closing. The last days we left luggage in the breakfast room without problem.
Despite of fire alarm, my friend cooked a very good pasta with her camp stove (We travelled around Scotland for 15 days, and Glasgow was the last stop. We were tired, hungry and poor!!!)
Definetely a very good STAY...

This is a terrible Hotel and the rule and regulations are absolutley stupid. Firstly the hotel is called GUEST HOUSE but your not allowed any guests into the hotel, which is the first i have ever come across. I booked 3 nights and visited my friend in Glasgow, No guests were allowed to enter the room or hotel then that booked by the person, if that was the case then the name should be changed and not kept as GUEST house. Secondly your not alllowed any food into your room, now what's that about, thats absolutely pathetic, what am i suppose to do in the room by myself, im not allowed to eat there and im not allowed to invite any of my friends, if i knew this was the case then i would have just stayed at my mums house. Your better of going to priemier travel inn which is around the corner or Hotel Ibis, there rooms are way much cleaner and friendly atmosphere. Ohh and also you have to give your room key to reception before you leave the hotel and then get it back when you arrive, there is no free parking and the area is surrounded my permit parking! def the worst hotel i have ever been too! I stayed one night and got the refund for the other two and booked myself into Premier Travel inn, i had friends over and i could eat in my room, now that is what i call a HOTEL!!

  • Liked — No Comment
  • Disliked — everything, the room didn't even have a shower, it was a bath shower which you had to sit in the tub and use, i like to stand when i shower PLS

after reading reviews on tripadvisor i began to regret booking this, howvere decided to tstick with my booking anyway!

our room was to the right of the reception, (which apparently is the better side) room was massive, bed comfy, all clean. decor in room bit outdated. bathroom had been updated recently with a large cornerbath and fab shower!

breakfast was nice, although not much choice. tea wasnt nice!

one receptionist was lovely, goin out of her way to help us, while the other one was most unfriendly!

the location is great and not far from a city sightseeing bus stop either.

  • Liked — the location and the cost!
  • Disliked — outdated decor and certain staff members
