This is an unusual hotel in that most of the rooms are "below stairs". It is a small family run hotel with a well deserved reputation. The staff are brilliant and very helpful. The receptionist gave us many top tips on how to get the mostout of a short stay in Glasgow. Breakfast is excellent and the staff are very attentive, but not in an overpowering way. Nothing seems to be too much bother to them. The hotel is near the Kelvingrove museums, so good for a day there, but it is a fair walk on a hot day from teh centre of Glasgow.

We arrived at the Kelvingrove and checked in without any problem. We had booked 2 rooms for one night, and found both to be more than satisfactory. The decor was unique in each room, with antique furniture and a very nice view out the window of flowers. The rooms were large and clean, with good water pressure in the en suite. There was a computer for public use by the front desk which was free of charge, and I was able to check my email for the first time in a week. The location was great - we were within walking distance of some very lovely gothic architecture, a beautiful park, a laundromat which we took advantage of, and Mother India, the best Indian restaurant around. The town centre was easy to reach by taxi, which was inexpensive and came right to the hotel. We got many helpful tips from the women at the front desk. We enjoyed a very pleasant night's sleep, and woke to a wonderful, made to order Scottish breakfast, which included delicious eggs, bacon, yogurt, tomatoes, mushrooms and potato scones. Everyone involved in customer service was extremely friendly, helpful and pleasant, from the front desk to the servers in the dining room. We could not have asked for a better experience in Glasgow!

We moved there from the other hotel. The first part of our trip was absolutely disappointing because of the wrong choice of the hotel (Fraser Suites) and as soon as we have found Kelvingrove Hotel and moved there, we saw real Glasgow.

Exceptional level of service, fantastic staff, quiet and comfortable rooms, excellent breakfast.

First impressions of the Kelvingrove are that it is pretty unremarkable - it is situated in the middle of a terrace on a road containing a number of similar looking hotels. The reception area is similarly nondescript, and at this point you could be forgiven for thinking that the hotel you've booked is not the same one that everyone's been raving about on Tripadvisor.

Fortunately, you don't sleep in the reception area. Once you've found your bedroom, you finally realise what all the fuss is about - the decor is understated and 'cool', but comfortable to boot. The (double) bed in our room was huge - I could've done with a telescope to find my girlfriend. I had the best night's sleep I've ever had in a city centre hotel, and I've stayed in a few.

The staff are dead friendly, the breakfast was great and the hotel is situated in a great location. Within a five minute walk you've got tons of quality restaurants and pubs.

The Kelvingrove is a gem of a hotel and I'd recommend to anyone. 5 stars all round.

My husband and I stayed at the Kelvingrove hotel with in July 09 to attend a conference at the SECC. We liked the hotel and the area. Staff were very friendly and helpful, and the room was attractively decorated in a modern style and nice and clean too (although Wi-fi connection was not brilliant in the room itself and the TV set was small with an OK picture quality). The area is good for the museum and park, walking along the river to the botanic gardens and we found plenty of nice places to eat very close by (the 78 is a great veggie place, nice Korean restaurant and the Neighbourhood bar was also friendly with nice and well priced food). The city centre is just 10-15mins walk away. Breakfast was good, choice of cereals, yoghurts, some fruit, or whatever components of a cooked breakfast you want.
