Stayed at the Kelvingrove the night before flying out of Glasgow, in a downstairs family room facing the street with my husband and two grown sons. The decor was overwhelmingly MAUVE but the room was spotless and comfortable with a small but perfectly adequate ensuite shower room. Some noise at closing time, presumably patrons leaving the nearby "Snaffle Bit" pub, but can't complain too much since my sons were among them! Breakfast very good and served by pleasant staff. Extremely helpful receptionist at check-in. Good location - walking distance to the pedestrianized downtown shopping area and 5 minutes from the Kelvingrove Museum and University. Ask for directions to the great little Italian restaurant - La Mora - that's just around the corner.

I was very pleased with my stay at the Kelvingrove Hotel. I chose it for its excellent location by the Kelvingrove Park, and a short walk to the Kelvingrove Art Gallery, and for a guide-book review which promised good service. I was not disappointed! I arrived late the first night, but Valerie, the manager was very friendly and helpful with restaurant suggestions, and later with booking a taxi, etc. All the staff, including Vincent on the front desk were friendly and efficient. I had a very comfortable, quiet room at the back, nicely appointed, as was the breakfast room where I enjoyed good food and great service. I would recommend this hotel to anyone travelling to Glasgow.

Maybe this is as good as it gets for the price in Glasgow, but our experience was that the innkeepers aren't committed to avoiding shabbiness. The small things added up: a broken closet door, overpowering room deodorizer, a coat rack with employees coats and dry cleaning bags loaded down right in the hallway by the rooms, an innkeeper who needed to say everything in the breakfast room in a voice that could be heard by everyone, loud bathroom fans. And it's more like a 20 to 25 minute walk to the center of the city, not 10 to 15 minutes as the website said.

just returned from a four day conference in glasgow. hotel small and friendly. Very Quiet . Really clean and excellent breakfast with quick efficient service. On good bus route and within ten minute walk of SECC.
