We came from Austria and stayed two nights at this delightful hotel as part of our holiday in Scotland. The bedrooms were very comfortable and the breakfast was very delicious. We had not been to Scotland before and the staff were extremely friendly and helpful in recomending what to see and do and also where we could eat. We took the city bus tour which stops very near the hotel. The beautiful Kelvingrove Art Gallery is nearby and it is 15 minutes to walk to the city centre for shopping. We will return to this hotel and tell our friends as we had a very enjoyable time.

We stayed one night, cost £80 inclusive of breakfast. A friendly welcome, downstairs rooms facing the rear are very quiet, I never heard a thing all night. The corrodor looks a bit jail like with the dark narrow looking doors but the rooms a bright and fresh, clean and modern. Bathroom was a bit tight but like the bedroom was toasty warm on a cold day. If you add beakfasts to a travelodge it would cost as much without the character, welcome and location. we used the sisters restaurant just yards away which was recomended and good, a Greek and Indian also within feet. A relatively quiet area on a bus route, parking outside the door, £2.

  • Liked — quiet clean friendly
  • Disliked — hand rails at entrance blocked by flower pots

3 friends and I needed a place to stay in Glasgow right at the beginning of the New Year. We made a good choice here. We were all arriving separately and I arrived first and was shown the room although I was early booking in. The customer service was excellent (amongst the best that I have recieved in any hotel anywhere) and although we were all arriving at separate times nothing was too much trouble. Our room was large and had a separate kitchenette and although it was onto Sauchieall Street it was quiet. The en suite bathroom was excellent, and the only slight complaint that I might have about the family room which we had was a slight lack of storage space.

Breakfasts again were excellent with plenty of choice, but again I keep coming back to the customer service which was a highlight of our stay. The hotel is really top notch here. We had a couple of friends who were staying nearby and it was no problem for them to come into the hotel to visit us. I also welcomed the free internet service at the hotel.

The knowledge of the staff about the local area was excellent. and although the hike into the city took a while (which I already knew) the hotel is very centrally placed for Kelvingrove Park and the Art Museum. The Glasgow City Tours bus also stops right outside the hotel, and if you need anything shopping wise in the way of newspapers may I recommend the shop right against the hotel. Lovely people. And open all hours.

There are pubs, restaurants and bars to suit all tastes and pockets in the immediate vicincity without having to walk back into the city. Again ask the staff. They are very knowledgable

I would defintely stay at the Kelvingrove again. It's a fine hotel, it's biggest thing is the customer service 24 hours a day. Excellent value. it's a huge credit to the City of Glasgow and its people that I love

We were very impressed by our stay at the Kelvingrove. We weren't expecting a whole lot for the price, but we were thrilled with our triple room. Very charming - lots of character with a modern touch. It was very clean and quite spacious. Though it was just below street level it was airy and light enough (considering there wasn't much in the way of sun while we were there). There was a lovely garden just outside our window and we found the room surprisingly quiet for being so close to the street.

Valerie and the rest of the staff were very friendly and helpful and the Scottish breakfasts were just delicious. Great way to start your day!

Location was great for us - the bus stop is nearby and it was right on the route for our hop on hop off bus tour. The city centre is technically within walking distance, but it would be a long walk. Plus the Kelvingrove Art Gallery & Museum and the Museum of Transport are very close by.

For a budget trip - the Kelvingrove more than fits the bill.

  • Liked — Charming, spacious room.
  • Disliked — They had a computer with internet set up, but it was excruciatingly slow.

Stayed at the Kelvingrove for 1 night as first time Glasgow visitors. The hotel is located in the west end, which is close to University of Glasgow and a few museums, but not that convenient to downtown attractions.

The room was clean and comfortable, though the basement location lends little natural light into the room. Complimentary traditional Scottish breakfast in the morning was excellent. The innkeepers are extremely friendly and gave us great recommendations for restaurants, night entertainment, etc.

Dinner at nearby Straivaigin is a must in Glasgow.

  • Liked — Friendly, knowledgeable staff
  • Disliked — Room needs more lighting
