Phew... I'm so glad we're not there anymore.
When we called to book, they sounded useless and disinterested (which should have been a huge hint) - they didn't even take our phone number. When we arrived our expectations were low and I am so sad to say that they weren't met.
The person behind the bar was surly and unfriendly. My wife suggested that she seemed like she was maybe having a bad day. The next day when we checked out we discovered that she must actually be having a bad life. The other person who vaguely helped us during our stay was dismissive and very keen to remove us from his presence. Lovely.
The rooms are up a lot of stairs. Lots. Really. That sort of thing wouldn't bother if it was good to get to the top. It isn't. Really. Actually, that's not quite true. The rooms are a good size, if quite well worn, and while not exactly dirty, they FEEL dirty. The bathroom actually IS just dirty and there is a smell. A sort of rotting meat odor. Presumably this is an environmentally friendly plan to encourage visitors to leave the bathroom quickly and thus conserve water. Sadly that isn't possible as it takes such a looong time for the hot water to travel up all of those stairs to the room.
The TV had no remote (or rather, it didn't have one anymore) and it's control panel was hanging comically. They didn't tell us that the restaurant would be closed when we checked in. Ohh... and the breakfast: It wasn't good. Poor choice, poor quality and really just poor.
Given the amount you're paying to stay here, it really is in no way worth it. For half the price, I might expect the dour looks and poor quality and thus not mind but honestly. 90 quid! I could buy a slab of rotten meat and rub it in my face for a lot less and then shower in the lovely rain that Scotland so readily provides.
The view is nice. Glasgow has a very lovely cathedral and the Necropolis is indeed cool. We liked the location, but we like to walk around.
Have you figured out that it isn't any good yet? Don't trust those who say it is.
