I come from a city that has not less than 2,000 Chinese restaurants. While I can not say that I have tried them all, I certainly have made a point of researching and frequenting the best of recommendations from my Chinese friends.
Opium compares with the best of Chinese restaurants, and not because it looks like a palace. It is a modern and very attractively designed place that has a clean, fresh aesthetic and was very pleasant to sit in.
Now to the food. Skilled and excellent dishes that kept leaving me asking why Opium can't be in Vancouver or San Francisco. Simply said, we loved it! Perhaps pricier than what one expects to pay in North America for Chinese cuisine, but the high quality of the ingredients made it worth every penny. Tender, juicy medium rare steak that cuts like butter, in a beautiful pepper and Shiraz sauce, is just one of the superb offerings. Started with some dim sum items. Amongst the finest dumplings I have ever had---perfect pasta!!! Opium, please move to North America.
