My girlfriend and I were thinking about where to eat for the coming weekend, we drove from Chingford (London) to the Cafe Source on Sat 27th August, based on reviews and the location. It was so worth it to the point Im planning on doing it again next month!. The food was excellent, service was just right and not cheesy, the big fellow that looked after us was proffesional, polite and efficient.
Its rare these days to find somewhere where quality, service and price is 100%, highly recomended.

“One of the best - keep it under your hat”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 16, 2011

Don't want this to become any busier as we frequent it quite often. Haven't tried the top rated establishment in Glasgow yet but Source is the best I've tried. Certainly worthy of it's high rating and praise especially considering the prices are only marginally above pub prices - if that. Great Scottish food and excellent deserts and puddings. If memory serves - the steak was better at the Baby Grand (years back) but everything else I've ever had is top rate. As the kitchen caters for the grand St Andrews church above (weddings and functions), they obviously employ proper chefs. I believe it's also run as a charity or a trust - so maybe this helps with their competitive pricing?

Great food, great prices and friendly staff - what more do you need? Has maintained high quality since at least I discovered it about 6 or 7 years ago. If every eating establishment was this good we wouldn't need review sites.

“Top class Scottish food”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 14, 2011

This is a brilliant venue for great Scottish cuisine or laid back drinks. The restaurant has a nice atmosphere with friendly attentive staff. The food is excellent and reasonably priced. They run a pre-theatre and also 3 courses with a bottle of wine per couple, tea and coffee for £22.50 a head which is brilliant value. A small warning however- be prepared to be really full as the portions are generous to say the least. We eat here at least a few times a month and I have never had a meal I was dissapointed with. Try the Cullen Skink- it cannot be beaten locally.

“Excellent food and attentive staff, with a pleasant ambiance”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 10, 2011

I have been visiting this restaurant for 3 or 4 years now, and was surprised to find that I had not reviewed it earlier! It is close to the centre of old Glasgow, but in a quiet square with (limited) traffic on one side only; situated in the basement of a splendid, listed mid-eighteenth century church, now used as a concert and wedding venue (both our son and daughter were married here this year); the Café provides the food, which comes from a clutch of reputable local purveyors. There is a Scottish basis to the cooking, but with interesting external influences. In the experience of all who have accompanied me, taste and quality are reliably excellent. A small range of Real Ales from home and abroad is provided.
