We had a mini break in November'06 at The Uplawmoor Hotel, and it was great.
We were rather late checking in, but the staff were very kind, helpful and nothing was too much trouble, as we found for the rest of our stay.
The bedroom was comfortable, but in need of some re-decoration, but this was far outweighed by the excellence of the quality of the food, the charming dining room, and the lovely staff whose attentions were impecable.
Even the breakfasts , with home-baked bread/toast were to die for.

  • Liked — The ambience, friendliness and the food
  • Disliked — The bedrooms were in need of some re-decoration

We had a short break in November 2006 at this hotel, which is set in the lovely countryside on the Renfrew/Ayrshire border.Although we arrived late in the evening,we were able to get a cooked meal. The staff were very helpful, nothing was too much trouble.
The bedroom was spacious, comfortable, but in need of some refurbishment.
We had breakfasts so filling we did'nt need a thing until the evening.
An excellent dinner menu each evening, we were spoilt for choice, fabulous food.
We will definitely return for another short break, very soon.

A very comfortable hotel set in a quiet village far from busy roads.
Some of the rooms have just been refurbished to a superior standard, with the remainder to be updated on a rolling program.
I have stayed in both ordinary & superior rooms and both are of excellent standard
Food is good quality & quantity, in both the Restaurant & Bar,
and with the smoking ban very enjoyable athmosphere.
The staff are very friendly and take the time to explain any additional information required, and the locals in the bar are always ready to have a chat.
Well worth a visit !

Contrary to an earlier comment I have stayed in more or less every room at the Uplawmoor Hotel & NEVER found mould or experienced a cold one. It is a spotless 1st class establishment. I have certain standards & have found this hotel to be on par with the top ones double the price. Having tried quite a few all around Scotland I keep coming back here, Food excellent Staff Excellent they now have "Superior" rooms available this said the standard rooms are by far good enough. You can even have a good chat to the locals who frequent the bar & all are friendly.
I can definitley recommend the Uplawmoor to anyone.

Stayed for one transit night only, based on search via tourist board brochure and an opinion in tripadvisor.
Don't think would use it again: not possible to book a conveniently timed dinner in the recommended restaurant as fully pre-booked for a touring coach party. Instead, ate in the "pub" which was a bit ordinary and emphasis on heavy Scottish foods, eg. fried or grilled.
Bedroom was quite OK and no complaint about its bathroom.
Breakfast was an ordinarty affair, only average portions although choice from a wide list. On reflection we were glad not to have used the restaurand the previous night due to its absolutely hideous decor! The proprietors have a predilection for dark red and brown, mixed with dark blue!

  • Liked — The bedroom was quiet, despite facing onto the frontage
  • Disliked — decor!
