Myself and my boyfriend stayed at the Uplawmoor Hotel on 25th September 2009 for an overnight stay on a room only basis. On arrival at the hotel, we were greeted by the Duty Manager who was extremely helpful, showed us around the hotel and to our room. He also asked if we had any bags that we needed carried to our room which was a nice touch.

Once we got to our room, we were very impressed with it. It was very clean and the bedding, curtains & all other furnishings were lovely. The en suite shower room was very cosy with a great shower too.

The drinks tray came with coffee, tea, milk and water which was a nice touch also. It cost us £5 to access the internet connection via our laptop for the full duration of our stay - we felt this was great value for money.

We decided to have dinner in the bar around 7ish and when we went downstairs, the bar was rather busy but we took that as a good sign as it showed that locals as well as guests enjoyed the food in the hotel. We only had to wait for a table for around 10 minutes which was excellent considering how busy it was. We both had a starter and a main course as well as 2 drinks each and I felt for the price we paid, the food was excellent. By the time we had finished our main courses though, there was not much room left for a dessert however, I do think they would have been excellent also.

The staff in the restaurant were extremely pleasant and helpful too. We would definitely return to this hotel and would recommend it to friends and family for an overnight/weekend getaway. Great value for money, not one complaint from us!

It was our second viist to The Uplawmoor only this time we had our 1 year old daughter with us. Our stay was every bit as good as it was last year on our Honeymoon.

The accomodation was first rate, the room was huge and so comfortable. We ate in the "bar" and had a fab meal. So much food and it tasted fab, couldn't manage dessert. Even the linguine and meatballs went down well with Erin.

The staff were attentive, courteous and efficient even though the bar and restaurant were extremely busy.

We also booked a packed lunch for the following day - The word Doorstop springs to mind. Proper 2 inch thick sandwiches with loads of fillings. Erin struggled a bit with her 2 inch thick Jam butty but gave it a damn good try though.

If I only stay at 1 hotel for the rest of my life it would be this one. Definitely worth the drive up.

Emma & Stuart (owners) have a fabulous establishment and should be proud of their efforts.
Thank you for making us so welcome

We travelled to Scotland for The British Open at Turnberry and stumbled upon the hotel by accident as all in Ayrshire were fully booked.
It is situated south of Glasgow, around 20 minutes to the airport, and north of Ayrshire in a quiet village. Travel was around one hour to Turnberry/Ayr.
The hotel has won awards for customer service and it is obvious why. The standard of care far outways the usual 'chain' hotels. Nothing ever seemed to much bother to the staff.
The bedroom and bathroom were large and spotlessly clean. The bed was very comfortable and a very good shower. There is ample car parking.
We at in the restaurant one evening. The standard of food is extremely high and the meal was very enjoyable. The breakfasts were equally as good.

If you are looking for 5* luxury, then the Uplawmoor Hotel is not for you. However, if you are looking for a friendly family run establishment who actually do put client service and satisfaction first, it certainly is! My husband and I spent a relaxing 3 night trip here and had a great time. Hats off to both Emma and Stuart for making us feel so welcome from the start........... (and all the other staff ). Our room was small (but only because we wanted a bath and did book at the last minute), but it was cosy and comfortable and had everything we could possibly need.
The food overall was excellent given that this is a 3* hotel. Breakfasts were as good as any we have ever had, especially the home made bread which was such a lovely treat. We ate in the bar our first evening and in the restaurant both other nights and enjoyed both experiences, especially the gin and lime cheesecake which was truly amazing!!!!!!!!!!!!!
The hotel has won many well deserved awards and really does put many other so called quality (and expensive) establishments which we have stayed in to shame.
The setting in a little village outside the city is great if like us you prefer a more rural environment. It was very easy to get into Glasgow by public transport and a good base to access Lough Lomond which we did on the Saturday.
All in all, a great stay and we will definitely come back
