We chose this hotel for its location - we were attending a UEFA Champion's League football match at Ibrox stadium between Rangers FC and Stuttgart. For this it is ideal, approx 5 minute walk.
The hotel was very busy, in fact we were stopped by two very burly security guards who were checking everyone who drove in. The guys were very pleasant and we had no problems when we said that we were checking in. They had a list of everyone who was expected.
When we reached reception there was a queue and one girl on the desk. The bar was extremely busy and there was a special function in the dining room. Girl on Front Desk was very pleasant and efficient- she was coping on her own with a large queue. Unfortunately, when we reached the room, we had been given a twin instead of a double. The receptionist very quickly and again very pleasantly gave us another room.
The room itself was adequate - it was clean and comfortable. The furniture and furnishings had seen better days - but all was in working order.
We had been told that the dining room wasn't opening until 8.30pm that night but that room service was available. When room service eventually answered the phone, it was very clear that they weren't too keen on providing any service until after their 'hospitality function was finished - girl was still pleasant but patently didn't want to take an order! Poor service.
When we returned after the game, the queue at the bar was literally ten deep. The bar staff were excellent in extremely trying circumstances. Not only were they coping with the queues at the bar but also serving the waitresses for the dining room and another 'hospitality' function. The guys behind this bar deserve a large pay rise and real recognition for the always pleasant, good service.
We left early next morning - unfortunately without breakfast as they didn't start serving until 7.00am. Room Service was allegedly available from 6.45am but we didn't want to take the chance in view of our experience the night before. Incidentally Room Service did call at our door around 10.45pm with a Caesar Salad and wine - unfortunately we hadn't placed an order!
The hotel is good value for money and for us the location was great, they need to employ more staff on match nights and they need to spruce up their rooms. I would use again for another match at Ibrox.
