“Excellent Hotel for a Weekend Shopping Break”

Novotel Glasgow Centre

May 12, 2008

My friends and I had booked a weekend shopping trip to Glasgow on the first week of December, while looking up hotels we found that Novotel would suit us perfectly, close to the shops and in our price range, £99 a night for 2 sharing.

We arrived at the hotel at 8am, from the outside the hotel looks sleek and modern, this can also be said for the inside lobby, very clean and welcoming decorated for Christmas. The check in staff were lovely and got us sorted out with our rooms straight away which was great because we were quite tired.

The room was very clean, just your typical hotel room basically, nothing special but just what we expected. We had two twin beds which were quite comfy, TV, hairdryer, the usual. The bathroom was very clean also with a good powerful hot shower over the bath which was very much appreciated after a hard days shopping in the snow on sauchiehall street.

The Location is fabulous, actually 2 mins away from all the shopping action, so close you can easily go back and forth to the hotel to drop off shopping bags. It's also situated right beside a Wetherspoons so lots of cheap alcohol and craic to be had there.

The service was great, the staff are polite and always happy to help, they provided us with a map on check in. The breakfast in the morning is fantastic too, plenty to choose from, cereal, fry up, fruit and plenty of toast, tea and coffee. Sets you up for the day!

I will definately be returning to this hotel when I come back to Glasgow.

Oh, just one thing though, the A/C is a little dodgy, my friend and I woke up every morning with very sore throats due to the re-circulated air, but thats my only complaint :)

“Excellent Stay”

To be honest, its hard to fault this hotel.

It is extremely modern and stylish, and only a few minutes walk from Sauchiehall Street and the shops. The underground car park was very useful.

Our room was spotless, had everything in it that we expected. The bathroom had an excellent shower, the bed was extremely comfy and the sofa was an added plus.

There was a good choice at breakfast, and it was above average for a hot buffet.

Staff were courteous and helpful throughout. The one problem I had was with the safe and that was rectified in minutes.

Top marks. If I ever come back to Glasgow this is where I'll stay.

“Excellent hotel, but poor location”

I stayed at this hotel for one night while in Glasgow on business.

I can't fault a single thing once inside this hotel. The service was friendly and efficient throughout and my room was comfortable, modern and clean. The food and service in the restaurant were excellent, but quite pricey (I'm glad I was on expenses!). Breakfast was superb, with a very impressive cooked selection.

The location was the only let-down. There was nothing in the immediate vicinity to walk out to for a drink or dinner. As I was there for one night only and working during the day I would have liked to have had a pub or restaurant nearby to walk to. Maybe if I had been there longer I would have found something, but despite walking to the hotel from the office I saw nothing on route to go out to and the area was quite grim and not the sort of place for an evening stroll to explore. I was later advised by a local colleague that the surrounding area is Glasgow's red light district.

To summarise, this hotel is great if you are happy to stay in for the evening, but not in a good location if you want to go out for a drink or food nearby.

“Loved the Novotel”

Novotel Glasgow Centre

Mar 31, 2008

I stayed in the Novotel as I won a free night through my work. We had dinner at the hotel which was fantastic, and also breakfast the next day which was on until 12 noon and was also fantastic. The rooms were a great size, the beds really comfy and even though the hotel is in the City Centre we hardly heard any noise. It is in a really good location for tourists and 2 mins walking distance from Sauchiehall St where the best restaraunts and bars are. If you need to go any further the train station (Charing Cross)is only 5 mins walk away, or the staff will order you a taxi which will arrive pretty much straight away. I would definatly stay here again.

From driving into the underground carpark to exiting our stay (group of four ladys) was great. The check in was efficent when we got to our rooms we had booked two twin rooms but had been allocated two doubles but we decided since we would hardly be in the room this was no issue. The price we'd paid was £70 B&B per room which was excellent value. The room was clean and had everything we needed. Bathroom was modern with separate w.c. very handy. Breakfast was really good with an excellent variety of hot and cold items. Want to mention Fiona who was really friendly on each occasion we encountered her.
Location is great for shopping and local bars. Fab clean and modern city hotel.
