Excellent at the price paid .Rooms large and comfortable,Minutes from main shops, pubs etc but far enough away for a good nights sleep as well.Breakfast good and staff helpfull. There is a small car park with a charge but if full there is plenty of parking close by.

5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 3, 2012

My Husband and I stayed at the Novotel Glasgow on the 1st of June with the deal of Dinner, Bed and Breakfast through Groupon. First Impression of the hotel was excellent, very friendly reception staff, we arrived an hour before scheduled check in, but as our room was ready, we were allowed to check in regardless. Our bottle of prosecco was chilling in an ice bucket waiting on us. The room was spacious, modern and clean, if a little on the sparse side for a 4 star. After an enjoyable afternoon shopping in the City, just a few minutes stroll away, we headed down to the restaurant for Dinner. The deal operates on the hotels "Market Kitchen" set menu, 4 different options for each starter, main and dessert. Restaurant staff all very friendly, well presented and efficient, food served quickly and very well presented also. After reading earlier reviews of people staying on this deal, dinner was far in excess of what we had anticipated - Clearly some people form unrealistic expectations as regards to value! The palatte cleansing sorbet between starter and main a very nice touch. After enjoying dinner, we hit the town for a few drinks, and the bed was very comfortable for a good nights rest when we got back. Breakfast very good also, Food of a high quality and everything readily available. A thoroughly enjoyable stay that we will not hesitate to book again in future. Thanks Novotel.

Also car parking in the hotels underground car park was 8 pounds. Well worth the money when you see just how secure that parking is. Get there early for that though - very limited spaces.

Just spent a night in the Novotel, Glasgow. First impressions were good, friendly efficient, receptionist, clean, spacious bedroom, ample toiletries and towels.. As part of the Groupon deal we were on, a bottle of Prosecco in a bucket of ice was waiting on the dressing table. Dinner was a bit disappointing. Limited choice and although the starters and desserts were OK the main courses were poor. The chicken breast was dry and not helped by barbecue sauce and cheese, the grilled salmon was not too bad but would have been better served with noodles or potatoes rather than bean sprouts. Breakfast was available from 4 a.m. until noon!! There was a good buffet with lots of choices and the teapot refilled readily. Best thing about the hotel was the staff who were friendly and helpful. We had a drink in the bar after dinner and noticed a large coach party arriving. One member of staff went to every child in the group and offered them a choice of soft toys. I think that children under the age of sixteen are accomodated free of charge and thought the gifts were a nice touch. The hotel car park was full but there was ample street parking nearby. This is quite expensive during the day but free from 6 p.m. until 8 a.m. and all day Sunday.

The standard rooms were very simple, too simple for a 4 stars. However they were cleaned.
The main problem was the mattress. It consisted of a low layer of spongy material with no firm support at all. (no coils or other supporting features). Terrible.
Breakfast - OK
Staff - fine
Position -excellent
All in all I will not recommend this hotel even if you manage to find a good offer.

Really enjoyed my stay at the Novatel. Staff in reception were extremely friendly and helpful. Room clean and a good size. Floor three appeared to have been refurbished and not sure if all levels had been from the feedback from our party. The communual PCs in reception were very handy. Overall no complaints and would return if in Glascow.

Room Tip: Ask for a room that has had a refurb

We stayed here for a night before heading to London on our trip. As an AClub member, I would say this isn't the best Novotel I've stayed in. The reception staff were very friendly and helpful but we were a little disappointed with the condition of the bed in the room. It was creaky and one of the double mattresses were stained (see attached pic). Thankfully the sheets and pillows looked clean so we didn't make a fuss about it.

There was no free WiFi in the room. It was only available on the two computers in the lobby area. This hotel is located a bit far from Buchanan Street where we did most of our shopping but that was still all right. Overall, we thought the condition of the room could have been better.

Thank you for taking the time to write a review based on your recent stay with us.
I was however, horrified to see the picture of your mattress with a coffee stain on it - naturally, we have since identified this bed & ensured that the stain has been removed.
Please accept my sincere apologies for the lapse in cleanliness on this occasion - I assure you that this is not the normal standard for Novotel Glasgow Centre.
I do hope that we get the opportunity to make up for our shortfalls on a future stay with us.

Kindest Regards,
Craig Munro
