During stay young oriental woman very helpful but when she went on holiday the manageress a youngish Indian lady took over and I have never met anyone with such bad manners in my entire life, a deposit had been paid and my colleuge had not even put his bag down and she was demanding full payment, very unhelpful and only interested in money and not customer service. Breakfast also worth giving a miss. Location good rooms ok for price but make sure you use the electric showers as the others will give you 1st degree burns. Parking in the area is a nightmare of epic proportions

The beds were very uncomfortable. I did not sleep well either of the 2 nights I stayed there. My brother and I each had separate rooms. There was no heat in his room and we did inform the woman (Hina) who was working there. She indicated that she turned the heat on but the hot water pipes still did not get hot.

there was no way to get a hold of the employees. The only method was ringing the outside door bell. As a matter of fact, someone did exactly this at 2 AM because there was no other method.

The best part was the fact that Hina asked for our payment within 5 minutes of our arriving.

According to the written instructions, breakfast was served at 8 AM on Saturday. We had to ring the buzzer at 8 AM because no one was there to serve breakfast.

We were offered this hotel as an alternative after arriving at our original hotel (within the same hotel group) to discover that our room was unavailable. It may look alright from the outside, but inside it is in very poor condition and suffering from damp. On arrival we were asked to pay the full amount of our stay without having even seen the room, never heard of this before, we of course refused and upon seeing the room could see why they were so keen to get our money. The room stank of what seemed to be a mixture of damp and stale cigarette smoke, there were damp spots on the walls and ceiling, paper towels jammed into a badly fitting window, the list could go on and on. Needless to say we refused to stay and could not wait to get out of there. Avoid this place if you can.

Dec 30, 2008 | Trip type: Family

I was rather hasty in booking this hotel. It appears to have good reviews, a number of 5/5, and as finding a hotel can be daunting at times, I booked this one in a rush.

When returning to this site I noticed following a number of very poor reviews were quite a few 5* reviews, with recommendations for everyone and perfect scores in every category.....hmmm

There were 5 of us who stayed at Lomond hotel in two separate rooms.

The double room was spacious, however the twin room was quite small and cramped, and with the addition of a third person, we moved to the 'family' room which was more spacious.

Breakfast: nothing special, typical choices (eggs, meat, toast) but seemed to cheap out whenever possible
Reception: Unfriendly (not rude, just not friendly) couldn't understand our request for adding a third person on a cot into the room (resulting in us having a baby crib for a 25 year old)
Rooms: Okay though ours smelled like smoke
Shower: Couldn't get the first shower to work, had to use the shower in the shower room which was no longer attached to the wall.

Summary: Fine if you would book a private room in a hostel, though there are probably hostels which are nicer to choose from.

We stayed for 4 nights in a double room which was very well presented and maintained. The first thing we noticed was the cleanliness compared to many other places.
The bathroom was very clean..clean.. clean..clean..

The bed was really comfortable "which is RARE" , we just couldn't believe that finally we had found a place with a comfortable bed which means No BACK PAIN the next morning.

We enjoyed the breakfast every morning and there were so many choices on the breakfast menu too.

The lomond hotel staff were really friendly and helpful and did everything to make us feel at home.

And above all this is the LOCATION, everything you need only a few minutes away from you, from grocery shops to cute little boutiques , sooooo many antique shops, the best pubs and bars in the city, restaurants ,take aways, bank, library, university, buses, underground stations...............

We will never forget our stay and will definitely go back ... ;)
