“Great Break”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed December 4, 2012

Send a couple of days in the Albion Hotel while back in glasgow visiting family. A great reminder of what Im missing back home. Great Glasgow humour from the lady receptionist that checked us in (didnt get her name).
Hotel was clean and was a grweat location for reliving my student days as it a 5 minute walk from Glasgow Uni where I studied.
Would definately recommend for a short break

“Just What We Wanted”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 27, 2012

A group of friends and myself decided to plan a tour abroad for our semester break. We made plans to travel to Belgium, the Netherlands, and Scotland as none of us have ever been there. Being that we're students and are on a budget we scoured the internet looking for deals. There were 4 of us so we wanted to make sure that each person would have their own space and place to sleep. We were able to find the Albion Hotel for about $89 a night. It actually was a little bit more than we really wanted to spend but from mapping out the location of the hotel to the center of Glasgow we knew that it was worth the few extra dollars per night to stay so close to everything.

The hotel itself is charming and quaint. It has the feel of a quaint bed and breakfast which we all really liked. Walking up the stairs wasn't that bad although at time difficult with our bags. Nonetheless, the rooms had everything we needed. We needed an adapter as we are from the USA and our appliances didn't work. At first the person at the front desk didn't think they had one available but they were able to direct us to someone who could help. Overall, a great experience. Will definitely be back soon!

“Charming Hotel”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed October 24, 2012

Our room was charming but there was no lift so it was a bit of an adventure taking suitcases and golf clubs up the twisty staircase. And although we knew we couldn't check in early we were hoping to drop off our bags early when our flight arrived, but the front door is locked from 10p to 7:30a. Once they opened, they were very nice and accommadating.

“Disappointing”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed October 16, 2012

I chose this place based on reviews on TripAdvisor and was disappointed. Perhaps the worst thing about the place for me was the bed. Or shall I say beds. I was put in a one bed room but complained that the bed was very uncomfortable and was moved to a room with three beds. I appreciated how graciously my complaint was handled (which was one of the best parts of the stay) but it turned out that none of the beds in my new room were much better than the original one had been. My Goldilocks routine ended me up in the bed that would do the least damage to my back. Unfortunately that was also the bed with the smell. Pee, I think.
The bathroom was very clean and modern, but the carpets were stained and the remote control for the TV looked like it had been used as a placemat. There was mystery guck around all the buttons. There was a fridge in the room which I was very pleased about because, after weeks of full Scottish breakfasts I had opted for something less artery-cloggin and relished a smoothie and yoghurt in the morning. But the fridge wasn't cold! It was cool at best.
This is a hotel that could, with a little love, be a wonderful place to stay. The location is excellent. Glasgow's West End is quiet and artsy and a comfortable place to be. But a little love is required, and new carpet and wall paper and decent mattresses.

We are sorry that you found your stay at the Albion Hotel to be less than comfortable. Over the years we have had many compliments about the comfort of our beds. Unfortunately this is one of the areas where a guest's personal preference has a bearing, one guest would find the bed too soft/hard etc and the next one would be very comfortable in it, on this occasion the mattress did not suit your personal preference, we are pleased the staff responded so well to your complaint and in the event you were given a choice of beds to try and find one which suited. With regard to the fridge being only cool instead of cold, they are actually small coolers, they are not intended to be as cold as a normal fridge, but to keep things cool in the guest rooms.

“Very nice, quaint hotel”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed October 12, 2012

We like these kind of small & quaint hotels that excel in customer service. We stayed 3 nights and enjoyed the room. It was a bit small, but I booked it online with hotels.com and actually reserved the room for one person by mistake. They were booked full but we didn't even ask for a bigger room. Maybe it would have been a larger room if they knew it was for 2. Breakfast was very good. The staff were all very friendly and helpful. There was a computer you could use in the lobby and free Wifi in the rooms. it was a 2 minute walk to the subway station to get to downtown Glasgow.

Room Tip: Quaint rooms for few night stays
