We stayed in the hotel over Mayday holiday weekend. The rooms are on the small side, but were kept clean and the bed was very comfortable. The iron/ironing board is a useful addition. The hotel is pretty central and it is an easy walk to most of the tourist areas from it. The 1st stop of the airport bus gives you a 2 minute walk to the hotel.
Beware the 'executive' room upgrade. It really isn't worth it. It consists of the same room that you would have got anyway, but with a robe and slippers and a very cheap amenity pack thrown in. If you want a robe then I would suggest a trip to a local store and buy one then you can take it home legally at the end of your stay! Maybe the bar is busier away from the holiday period, but when we were there 10:00pm Saturday, it was dead and hotter than hell. We encountered 4 young girls who were taking their drinks up in the lift to their room, because they couldn't take the heat. We soon followed their advice and did the same.
At the moment Glasgow in that area is being rebuilt, and that part of Argyle St. is being singled out for extra work to bring it up to the same standard as the rest. How long this will last I'm not sure, but it was noisy.

I stayed at Corus with a group of friends for five nights in March of 2005. The hotel was going through renovations and I asked for an updated room. The service desk accomodated my request although I had booked the room through Expedia at a discounted rate. My friends did not request an updated room. Their rooms were a little dingy but clean and like mine ample in space.

I received a nice breakfast in my room in the morning simply by filling out a card left for me by housekeeping. The price was not exactly low, but for what I received - breakfast rolls, cereal, juice, tea, toast, fruit, yogurt, assorted jams, etc. - I didn't consider it ridiculous. The breakfast buffet in the cafe/bar served a really nice breakfast on the mornings I opted out of room service. The assortment was good and the quality good. Dinner was slightly expensive but the quality was still better than I've experienced in similar hotels.

The beds were very comfortable and while the room was warm at times during the night, I simply removed the thick comforter from the bed to take care of the problem.

The hotel is a five minute walk from Glasgow Central station. This is very handy when traveling elsewhere. The only problem I could see was not being close to some of the nicer pubs, bars and restaurants. After a short trip to northern England, I returned to Glasgow but stayed at another hotel. The Victorian was much more convenient for going out and enjoying the city.

I would stay at The Corus again if the Victorian was booked up - which is exactly what happened when making my reservations this trip. The front desk was very accomodating - even letting me check in hours early - and the rooms were comfortable.

Looking for a cheap place to stay, this is it. We managed to get a great rate in March and it was just what we were looking for. The rooms were small, plan on living out of our suitcase, but extremely clean and cutely decorated. We found the staff helpful and loved the free left luggage service. We walked everywhere from the hotel, but other transportation is readily available. Would definitely recommend this to the traveler looking to save a few dollars but still looking for the nice room.

I was one of 10 lads travelling to this hotel for a weekend in Glasgow.

5 twin rooms were booked and paid for about 2 months in advance using one of the many travel booking sites. (expedia was ours)

Beware that using this method of booking maybe cheap but it doesn't guarantee you a room at the hotel.

After arriving in 2 seperate groups we were told that the hotel was over booked and therefore they couldn't accomodate us.

We were split up into 2 seperate hotels miles out of the city centre.

So I can tell you that the hotel is only a 5 min walk from Central station and therefore handy for everything in central Glasgow. The reception handled everything easily and without fuss.

I can say in their favour, the Corus hotel gave us a free tab on taxis in and out of the city centre from our new hotel which turned out to be very handy!

stayed at this hotel 14-16 jan, got a deal with expedia at £37.00 per night per room.the weekend before the hotel had featured extensively in the national press when a soldier committed suicide there.Dont let this put you off.Rooms are very nice, small but clean.Handy for Glasgow Central station, which is only 5 mins away. The shopping is also very close by, just further along Argylle st.All in all, a nicely located hotel
