Stayed at the Corus in Glasgow in September 2004. The rooms were nice, and clean-housekeeping staff were nice, and hotel was fairly central to shoppping and restaurants. Avoid the high priced breakfast buffet (unless included in your room price)-it was expensive and inedible. Check in staff at reception were fine, but when we tried to check out at 2:00 am on September 25th to catch our flight, the rude counter staff (stocky, bald man) announced quite rudely that we could not check out. No explanation was forthcoming until we said we had to leave to catch a plane. He then advised it was because the computer system was off line at that time of the night (even though we had confirmed earlier to make sure it would be no problem to check out at that hour). We had to leave our credit card account open. We asked him to call a taxi for the airport-and it appeared from the telephone conversation that ensued that he called a buddy of his. A too-small, unmarked car appeared ten minutes later, which could not accommodate our luggage. We had to go out into the street to hail a passing cab to take us to the airport. Too bad, as this experience left us with an unpleasant last impression.
