Yes, unbelievable, not the hotel but the price of the breakfast.
Is this the dearest breakfast in scotland????
We sat down to breakfast (after an overnight stay here) which was not included in the price, only for the waitress to tell us it would be £10.75 for a hot b/fast or £7.50 for a cold one. We almost fell over before we got up and left !!!.This was a shame as otherwise our stay could not be faulted. Clean rooms, friendly check in staff and handy location. Really handy for that cafe 200 metres away for a cooked b/fast at real prices.

We stayed for 2 nights on 3rd & 4th December 2004. The rooms are cramped with no proper space for storing clothes. Our room backed on to the lift shaft which was noisy all night. As it was hot & stuufy we opened the window to discover the air conditioning/heating unit was outside our window & noisy, too. There was a function on in the dining room and though we'd booked D,B&B we had to eat in the smoky bar. The party noise continued below our room until 1.30am but there were no other rooms to move to. The 2nd night proved to be just as "eventful" with the fire alarm being set off at 5am. The evening meals were good but the breakfasts were terrible and our room had not been vaccuumed at all.
We complained to the front desk on arrival and again when leaving but they weren't in the least bit interested - we were just grateful thet we'd booked a cheaper deal - we would have been extremely upset had we paid the full tariff. All in all, the only person we could recommend in the entire hotel was Anton - he worked in the restaurant & was friendly, helpful and pleasant. We could never recommend this place to anyone.

Management response from 377Argyle, General Manager

As guests of the hotel as it was a number of years ago I would like to extend a warm welcome to you to spend a weekend with us to see how we have transformed the hotel. No part of the hotel has been untouched with all rooms having a complete refit, new lifts installed, we have a Costa coffe shop on the ground floor and a contempary bar & restaurant on the 1st floor. I would extend to you and a complimentary weekend in return for your feedback on our progress.

Having stayed in several 'chain' hotels in Glasgow over the past few years, Corus proved to be the best all round, so far! Although no parking is provided and the hotel sits in what looks like a rather dodgy (though clearly fast-regenerating) part of the city, the room we had was as comfortable and well-appointed as one could expect for £65 (which included an excellent buffet breakfast). The staff were friendly and efficient - we even received an apology (!) when we handed in one of their 'repairs' cards to alert them to the (rather trivial) fact that one of the light bulbs in the room needed replacing. We will definitely stay there again - what more can one say by way of recommendation?!

This hotel looks alright from the outside and in, although it's often used the local prostitutes.

We demanded that our company moved us right away, I recommend the Novotel just up the road.

Stayed at the Corus in Glasgow in September 2004. The rooms were nice, and clean-housekeeping staff were nice, and hotel was fairly central to shoppping and restaurants. Avoid the high priced breakfast buffet (unless included in your room price)-it was expensive and inedible. Check in staff at reception were fine, but when we tried to check out at 2:00 am on September 25th to catch our flight, the rude counter staff (stocky, bald man) announced quite rudely that we could not check out. No explanation was forthcoming until we said we had to leave to catch a plane. He then advised it was because the computer system was off line at that time of the night (even though we had confirmed earlier to make sure it would be no problem to check out at that hour). We had to leave our credit card account open. We asked him to call a taxi for the airport-and it appeared from the telephone conversation that ensued that he called a buddy of his. A too-small, unmarked car appeared ten minutes later, which could not accommodate our luggage. We had to go out into the street to hail a passing cab to take us to the airport. Too bad, as this experience left us with an unpleasant last impression.
