I stayed here for one night to have a night out in Glasgow. When I booked (on-line) it was a reduced rate which didn’t include breakfast, but when I arrived I was advised it did include breakfast which was a pleasant surprise. Also breakfast was served until 11.00 am, which is great if you are suffering after a heavy night of Glasgow hospitality!! The reception and public area are big bright and airy and you are greeted by helpful friendly staff. We had a room on the 5th floor with a view out over the Clyde and the Kingston Bridge and the motorway. The double glazing ensured absolutely no noise, and as the room was air-conditioned it wasn’t necessary to open it anyway. The room is typical of what you would expect in a large chain, and though not as large as you would get in the USA for example, was perfectly adequate and spotlessly clean with both a bath and shower (in bath). We had a king size bed which was very comfy. Unlike a previous reviewer, I didn’t have any problems with the lifts (elevators) (4 available), one arriving in seconds of calling. Didn’t understand previous reviewers comment about what to do in emergencies if the lift hadn’t been working, given the standard advice the world over “Do not use lifts in emergencies!! - duh!!) The breakfast area is quite big and bright, again with efficient friendly staff. Huge choice of cooked or continental style breakfast and fruit, much better choice than I’ve normally experienced in similar hotels. The waitress was very friendly and even took the time to have a chat and ask how we were enjoying our stay in Glasgow, again, in my own experience; such level of genuine personal attention is rare. The hotel is well located for a night out in the city centre, the west-end or if attending a concert or whatever at the nearby SECC, all a reasonable walk away or a cheap taxi ride (plenty waiting at main entrance). So all in-all I was impressed with the Marriot
I thought it represented good value for money and I wouldn’t hesitate to use it again.
