Wonderful modern hotel. Rooms outstanding. Near highway, but windows seem very well soundproofed. There were actuially 2 windows about 3 inches apart. At least one of them appeared to be double-paned glass. We were in room on 7th floor facing, but on far side of hotel from highway - could not hear a sound. Extremely accommodating staff. About 5-7 blocks from downtown center, but an easy walk. They provide a hairdryer, but our's burned out at 6am on getaway day with my wife's hair wet. Before I had a chance to call, a hotel porter stopped by checking on us stating their fire panel showed a short in my room. They provided a free room 2 doors down for my wife to dry her hair.

Spent 2 nights in June. Asked for a high floor and got a room on the 9th floor (out of 12 floors) in the back facing traffic. Windows were soundproofed so did not hear traffic or the wind blowing. First evening in the hotel, it was rather noisy on my floor, mainly from guests going in and out. The hotel does not update its services. It says in the guest directory that it has ice on every floor, but you find out that the ice machine is broken and looks like has been for a while and is not fixed or replaced. Also, it says in room service menu that it offers some dishes only to find out that it doesn't for that night or who knows how long? I could not access my bill on the TV. Each time I tried to access it, it said it is disabled. It is clear this is an old Marriott which the management does not believe in updating the facilities. Once something breaks, they just leave it like that. The drain in the bathtub was very dirty, not what you would expect from a Marriott. Also, housekeeping start cleaning the rooms at 7 am. The minibar offers some free space for you to place items but there is a problem with the temperature. It does not get cold enough. No one helped me with my bags when I arrived and when I left.

Another night on business...another Marriott hotel. The Glasgow Marriott is very similar to any other Marriott you have ever stayed in. It's not bad, but it's obviously been owned by one or more chains before Marriott and despite the interior being refurbished, it's clearly anything but modern. From the exterior, it's a ghastly looking 70's contraption.
The room was ok, no complaints. Likewise with the food in the restaurant. Would I say it was worth the £100 per night - probably not. Having said that, I don't pay and it's one of the only decent hotels I've found in Glasgow.

  • Liked — It's Marriott through and through so you know what you're getting
  • Disliked — It's an awful building

I stayed here for a few days on business. The hotel is really close to Glasgow Central Station so easy to get there, a good looking spacious hotel and a warm welcome when you arrive. In fact; too warm! I know it doesn't sound like much, but when you're really uncomfortably hot and can't do anything about it, it really gets to you. I checked into my room and felt like I'd walked into a sauna, so spent quite a while, after a long journey, trying to work out the air conditioning, fighting to get the window open by the maximum two inches and wandering around looking for the ice machine. After an hour of no improvement (even with the air con full on) I called down to ask for help. Housekeeping, who are fantastic, brought an electric fan to my room. I returned after my evening meal to find the room still too hot and it was obvious that the air con wasn't working properly.
I'd ignored the fact that the shower was really cold (And frankly enjoyed it in the heat at first) thinking there was probably a knack to turning it up that I couldn't work out yet. I had a really bad night with the noise of the fan and the air con and was still too hot, so in the morning when the shower still wasn't working, the receptionist kindly offered to move me to another room.
The new room was much more comfortable- positively chilly at times! The air con was great and the shower was lovely. The hair dryer was a bit weird though- just a tube- (A bit like a Hoover but blowing rather than sucking!) attached to the wall that blew hot air and was cracked at the end so too hot for me to hold without a towel wrapped around it- outdated and a little dangerous frankly. By this time though, I didn't have the heart to mention it at reception.
The rooms are comfy and clean, with amazing beds, fluffy white towels and good quality toiletries. The fridge has space for your own items, which is great, and you have an iron, ironing board and pretty much everything you need, including a really nice breakfast.
I also found the hotel a little expensive. I noticed that they used WiFi, including in all the rooms, so I took my laptop with me. Their website hadn't really mentioned a fee and it wasn't mentioned when I called to ask about using it either. It's £6 an hour or £15 for a day. Now I know that WiFi is generally for use in public areas and is known for being inexpensive- so why the excessive charge? Also, the restaurant menu is very limited and too expensive. One of my colleagues is vegetarian and there was hardly anything at all to suit him, so I only ate there once during my stay. The food I had was good but not amazing and very small portions and after a two course meal for £25 (soup and lamb) I still felt hungry and had to buy a snack. I really would have expected more for my money, especially in a city with so much competition.
Over all, even though the issues I had were minor, (Yes, I know I sound like a moaner!) it was still enough that it would put me off going back and for the amount paid for my stay, I could do better and have a more comfortable stay elsewhere.

  • Liked — Close to station, excellent staff
  • Disliked — Room too hot, too expensive.

Stayed at the Marriott Glascow in late April. All went well. When you pull up to the hotel, it doesn't look like much. However, the inside of the hotel was very well kept and the room was nice. It was a good size - especially for some of the European Hotels I have stayed in.

I am a Marriott Platinum member that booked this room with rewards and was not disappointed. The Executive Club (a.k.a. Concierge Room), if you have access, was good ... nice snacks and breakfast. It also had free beer and wine at night - nice touch!!!

The property itself was easily within walking distance from the shops, bars and restaurants. I would recommend this hotel.
