“Cool Stay”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed May 15, 2013

The hotel overall was awesome and the staff were super friendly. However the hotel felt a bit old for today's standards. The rooms were clean, however the hotel felt old and not updated. Everything was very clean.

This once great hotel is now looking tired and dated. Its rooms are tiny by major chain standards and desperately need to be refurbished. Internet charges are extortionate at GBP 15.00 per day (in room) -- but are free in the public areas ! Car parking overnight is a reasonable GBP 5.00.

I went to their steak restaurant called "Source" on the ground flood -- and asked the Maitre'D for a good Scottish Angus steak for dinner. Very apologetically he told me "All our beef comes from South America !"

Shortly after checkout, I received an email from the hotel asking for my impressions etc. I spent more than 20 minutes giving detailed feedback -- but heard not a whisper from them. Next time I'll stay at the Hilton next door.

Room Tip: Standard Rooms on the Executive Floor are nothing special -- you need to book a Suite to get a decen...

A classic marriot hotel with a scottish flavour . The staff were professional and friendly , some with quaint scottish accents , the check in was seamless , our room was very nice and well appointed with a reasonable sized bathroom . The hotel is in a convenient location , easy to find transport and the hotel restaurants were very nice as was the breakfast

At check in and in the restaurant the staff are great. The hotel room was exaclty as espected - clean and comfortable and the hotel has PC's for guest use to print boarding passes. The food in the restaurant and quality of breakfast weas very good. We were woken at 6am by a false fire alarm. Many guests vacated rooms whilst the fire service investigated. We were not allowed to return inside until 6.40am. Fair enough. BUT, during this time not one single member of staff came outside to give us any information (ie. to tell us if the fire service had been called, to apologise, ot to tell us if it was a genuine alarm or not). I have been at a Holiday Inn in London which had a fire alarm and they gave out thermal blankets to people whilst they were outside. The Holiday Inn also placed a note under the door of every room explaining why they had a false alarm. The Marriott did nothing. We also asked for a wake up call at 8am but we got it at 7.30am. If they had handled the fire alarm situation better and not woke me up earlier than requested I would have rated it higher.

Stayed here for 1 night as was going to the SECC, the hotel is within walking distance which appealed to us,also very close to town centre. The hotel was bustling & had a real feel of warmth, the receptionist was very helpful & patient.the room was of a fair size & impeccably clean with all the usual toiletries etc. The breakfast staff & in particular the guy who showed us around the breakfast room & to our table was extremely pleasant & helpful, real nice to see a happy smiley face 1st thing in the morning,a real asset to the company, all in all, our stay was a good 1 & 1 we will definitely take in the future. B-)

Going to Glagow to see a concert on 6th April this year, we managed to get the Marriott on a good deal. We had been here a few times before but the service and food in the restaurant started going downhill big time. What a lovely surprise we got. There were three menus for evening dinner. Pity we had eaten before we got there. Disappointing that meal was too! The menus were lovely and had we been staying a second night, would have had difficulty choosing as there was a lovely choice. Our room was lovely as ever and I had one of the best night's sleep for ages. The bed and pillows were the comfiest in a hotel I have had in a long long time.

Our breakfast in the morning was excellent. Shown to our table, got a pot of coffee for myself and tea for my husband. Last time I ordered coffee which had been reduced to cups then, I never got it. The food was lovely and plenty selection. The fried bread was a treat. There are not many hotels that have fried bread. Lovely and crisp and not greasy. Topped with fried egg and lovely sausages on the side, nice mushrooms. Amazing. Please more hotels have fried bread.

We will come back now

Louise and Dave, Aberdeen

Room Tip: Doesn't matter. All rooms we have stayed in are nice. Maybe ask for front of hotel as the back...

We had a 2 night stay in April. The staff were all helpful and the rooms were to a good standard. Breakfast was wonderful. We have stayed at this hotel on numerous occasions and have never had a bad experience. Will book this hotel again very soon for another lovely weekend in Glasgow.

Room Tip: I would suggest having a room away from the lifts as they can be a little noisy.
