I stayed in the Abode hotel with my father May 8th-11th while interviewing at a school in Glasgow. It is a boutique hotel, so if you are expecting the Marriott, don't stay here. That being said, I found it to be a lovely experience. We were upgraded to the "Enviable" room which was a good size. I would guess that the first two rooms offered are on the small size since ours was pretty average compared to most hotels I've stayed in. But the room was long, the windows were huge, and the ceiling was very high so it really opened the room up and made it very comfortable. I slept on the sofa bed which was surprisingly nice and my father slept in the regular bed which was very very soft and cushiony. We ate at the Michael Caines restaurant (not the actor as some have assumed). It was a bit expensive, but the food was excellent and the service was perfect - attentive but not pushy. The other nights we either ate out or in the cafe in the basement which was more reasonably priced but the service was still great. The location is very good; within a quick walking distance to the major shopping areas, pubs and the Glasgow School of Art. There are no vending machines or ice buckets or any of the stuff you'd expect at a chain hotel, so again, if that's what you're expecting you probably won't be happy here. But for a small boutique hotel in the heart of a wonderful city it was a great stay.
