Stayed here for one night and had a great time. Would recommend this hotel to anyone, with the great location to the friendly staff, I could not fault it. Would recommend the executive room with the free mini bar and access to the executive lounge. Will be returnng soon.

First time staying here, had a great stay booked a club balcony room on the 5th floor, bed really comfy, mini bar was appreciated in room. Had access to executive lounge which was great, open fire, couches and free soft and alcoholic drinks.Staff were very friendly and helpful. Will be back again in future.

We had a great stay at the Carlton George Hotel.

We were on the 2nd floor which was under maintenance and the corridor was not the best sight or smell.

However, the room was great and the beds extremely comfortable leading to a great night sleep.

We thoroughly enjoyed the 3 course meal which was included in our cost.

The drinks in executive floor were ok but a bit more variety would have been better. Not many people go for sherry these days!!

All in all we had a great time and I would recommend the hotel.

Room Tip: Ask about maintenance work during booking.

Stayed in the hotel where we met our friends and enjoyed great hopspitality. We had a Club Balcony room, didn't get to use the balcony much as it was freezing outside ! Enjoyed the free minibar, before moving to the Executive Lounge, all of which was included in the price. The room was very comfortable, and the bed was one of the best we have slept in ! We ate in the restaurant in the Evening and the XMAS menu was very good, and the food delicious. Breakfast again was very good with plenty of choice.

Room Tip: Choose a Club or Club Balcony room and enjoy the free refreshments !

Don't be caught out with the limited room service food in December. They reduced the menu to only a Christmas menu ( so no sandwiches or snacks) on Friday 28th November , yet never warned us or changed the menu card in our room, despite us staying for three days.

We arrived after midnight, didn't receive a warm welcome, despite warning them our plane was delayed. Our room had a broken safe, which was never repaired over the three days, no way of increasing the heating and a badly chipped glass with the room drinks.

These issues may have been exacerbated because they were busy shutting whole floors to change carpets.

However, the hotel is very comfortable, with an ideal location. We would stay again, but would be prepared to expect a busy breakfast and a busy executive lounge.

Room Tip: Street noise was not a problem in room 511.

Dear Greenandgoldengland,

Please accept my apologies for the service lapses on your stay this weekend. Of course sandwiches etc. should be available at all times, I will certainly look into what has happened on this occasion.
Thank you for bringing these items to my attention.

Haven't stayed at the Carlton George for 9 years but the service and comfort of the hotel is exactly the same. We stayed in a club room and enjoyed a complimentary wee dram while sat out on the balcony watching the hustle and bustle on the streets below. We dined in the restaurant choosing from the Xmas menu which was delicious with excellent service. All the staff we met at the Carlton George were particularly helpful and friendly which does enhance one's stay in a city centre hotel - we won't be leaving it 9 years before our next visit, that's for sure!

Room Tip: Definitely worth upgrading to an executive or club room if you intend enjoying a few alcoholic bever...

As others have said, the Carlton George's location is hard to beat. It's especially handy for those arriving at Queen Street Station, and for those using the airport shuttle, as it stops only steps away from the hotel. The staff are very helpful, and my room was good-sized and comfortable, with only two niggles: the lighting is oddly positioned and not strong enough for me, and I had to run the air con whenever I was in the room, as it was otherwise unbearably warm (in December!).

The free minibar was a very nice touch. I didn't use the vouchers for free drinks - I didn't have the time, but even if I had, I would have preferred a drink in a hotel bar, rather than having to go out. In fact, colleagues were staying at Citizen M, and we had a drink (theirs was complimentary) at that hotel's bar, for exactly the same reason - once people come back to a hotel after a long day, they don't necessarily want to have to go out again.

I was surprised to read the review about a step between the room and the bathroom - it must be a particular room, as my room had no transition in floor level. I was also surprised to read a negative review of the breakfast (which was included in my room rate). I didn't eat from the hot buffet, but rather ordered hot food (cooked to order) from the menu. While American pancakes arrived cold (the server's fault, I assume; not the chef's), my fried or soft-boiled eggs were perfectly cooked each morning.

I would certainly stay at the Carlton George again.
