This boutique hotel is located just off Buchanan Street (within about 20 meters walk) which is the main/central area for shopping, restaurants, nightlife, open top bus tours and the "culture". You could not get a better location than this.
We stayed in one of their Club rooms, well worth the extra, I emailed ahead and asked for a room with a balcony if they had one (a tip I got from reading another review on this hotel). The rooms are medium size, smallish bathroom but ok for us, decor was nice (if I was to be really picky the decor could do with a little bit of a dab of paint in some places but this is really just nit-picking because this is a fabulous hotel and generally to a high standard) The Club rooms have complimentary mini bar and decanters of Sherry, Gin and Whisky as well as robes etc etc. This is a great idea if you like a drink before you go out for the evening. If you choose a Club room you get access to the "Executive Lounge" which for us was great because we arrived at 10 am and our room was not ready, they suggested we got ourselves a "complimentary" coffee and it would be done soon. There is also complimentary internet access in the Exec. Lounge. On the negative : the TV only had 5 channels plus the pay-per-view which is quite old fashioned in this day and age.
The staff were excellent and the beds very comfortable and big. Lovely breakfast (included in the room rate for us as we booked on their website and in the Internet offers section where the room rates are reduced and at weekends they include breakfast in the price(they don't tell you this when you are booking so it's a nice surprise. Look for the tiny box on their web page headed Internet Offers!)

The hotel is very close to the two train stations - one approx 100 meters away, one about 5 mins walk just off Buchanan Street. We took the City shuttle bus from the airport to the hotel, it cost around £4 each for a one way ticket and picks up right outside the arrivals door of the airport, it goes every 10 minutes and stops right outside this hotel - it could not have been easier.
We will definitely go back to this hotel next time we go to Glasgow - couldn't recommend it highly enough. For those who fancy a bit of Glaswegian nightlife for the over 25s try the One-Up bar/club in Merchant City area (approx 5 mins walk from hotel) and open until 3! And cocktails at Cocktails bar around the corner. We had a Ball....

  • Liked — Location and freebies included in room rate.
  • Disliked — If I had to say anything at all it would be that there were only 5 channels on the TV!

Friendly, knowledgeable staff who knew the best places in Glasgow and other towns in Scotland. Large (for the UK, HUGE!), comfortable rooms with reasonably good climate control. Enormous, clean bathrooms with plenty of hot water and easy to use showers (again, for UK, this is unusual). Free minibar, great pub next door, grand restaurant on the top floor. Handy to the trains and metro. Lots of shopping nearby. What else do you want?

I cannot say enough about this hotel. Perfect location, quaint hotel with lots of Scottich character, amazing pub / restaurant next door, steps from Queen Railway station, airport express bus around the corner, amazing shopping around every corner, free mini-bar (yes free, my husband didn't believe me until we got there), great breakfast included, wonderful staff, fabulous rooms, worth every penny you will pay. (I found the best deal on laterooms.com) We have stayed in hotels in over 5 countries in the past 5 years, and this tops them all.

I was very pleasantly surprised with this little gem in the heart of Glasgow. On arrival, we were very warmly greeted and received 4 free welcome drink vouchers for Waxy's, the huge bar next door. It's just off Buchanan Street, so it's ideal for shopping. Our room was on the 3rd floor and it was very spacious, tastefully furnished with a real feeling of Scottishness - it's the 1st time I've seen tartan tiles in the bathroom! The free mini-bar and decanters of whisky/sherry were a nice touch. I had a very comfortable night's sleep, although it was very hot in the hotel, which doesn't happen often in Scotland! Breakfast buffet was served in the spectacular glass roof-top restaurant, which had a wonderful view of the city. I would definitely go back again.

Fantastic value for money
Great central location which I've stayed at several times before, usually for business but this time was a social occasion. Huge double room, very much appreciated complimentary mini bar & decanters of sherry & gin. Friendly, helpful staff, good breakfast which was inclusive (£100/room/night)

  • Liked — Free mini bar (although we didn't drink the alcohol, it was a really nice touch)
  • Disliked — No dislikes!
