I cannot say enough about this hotel. Perfect location, quaint hotel with lots of Scottich character, amazing pub / restaurant next door, steps from Queen Railway station, airport express bus around the corner, amazing shopping around every corner, free mini-bar (yes free, my husband didn't believe me until we got there), great breakfast included, wonderful staff, fabulous rooms, worth every penny you will pay. (I found the best deal on laterooms.com) We have stayed in hotels in over 5 countries in the past 5 years, and this tops them all.

I was very pleasantly surprised with this little gem in the heart of Glasgow. On arrival, we were very warmly greeted and received 4 free welcome drink vouchers for Waxy's, the huge bar next door. It's just off Buchanan Street, so it's ideal for shopping. Our room was on the 3rd floor and it was very spacious, tastefully furnished with a real feeling of Scottishness - it's the 1st time I've seen tartan tiles in the bathroom! The free mini-bar and decanters of whisky/sherry were a nice touch. I had a very comfortable night's sleep, although it was very hot in the hotel, which doesn't happen often in Scotland! Breakfast buffet was served in the spectacular glass roof-top restaurant, which had a wonderful view of the city. I would definitely go back again.

Fantastic value for money
Great central location which I've stayed at several times before, usually for business but this time was a social occasion. Huge double room, very much appreciated complimentary mini bar & decanters of sherry & gin. Friendly, helpful staff, good breakfast which was inclusive (£100/room/night)

  • Liked — Free mini bar (although we didn't drink the alcohol, it was a really nice touch)
  • Disliked — No dislikes!

I booked this hotel as a place for my new wife and I to stay before we headed off on our honeymoon. I got a great rate for an executive room on-line, and was thoroughly looking forward to the stay.

We got there very late on Saturday night, and duly checked into our room on the second floor. Although it was a very good size, we were extremely disappointed with the view (see photos of internal courtyard and air-con uploaded by others) and with the constant hum of the air conditioning.

I mentioned this twice to reception, who said they'd let the management know - but nothing came of it. I also complained that although I'd clearly stated before arrival that we were newly-weds, we were given two single beds pushed together and not an actual double bed. The bathroom was a bit cramped, but the heated mirror was a nice touch.

Other than these faults, the rooms was comfortable with good quality furnishing, Great location (I can't think of better in Glasgow), comfortable bed, and a free minibar. The breakfast was good, but I was a bit underwhelmed by the 'executive lounge'. The free internet access was useful.

If you can be sure you don't end up in the room we did, overlooking the courtyard, go for it.

Smashing little hotel in Glasgow city centre. Located just off Buchanan Street at the bottom of the hill. Walking distance to the train station [Queens and Central], Buchanan Bus Station, Cineworld and theatreland and all its nice restaurants. V. friendly and professional staff. Spotless rooms. I booked a superior room which included complimentary mini bar and decanters of whiskey, sherry and gin and four complimentary drinks in Waxy O'Connors bar and breakfast. Huge breakfast and something for everyone. Lovely little rooftop restaurant. Excellent value for money. Only criticism is that the hotel room was a little warm but we left the window open all day and it was ok the second night. The decor could be called twee [tartan armchairs & the like] but I love that. Glasgow itself is fabulous - shoppers heaven, theatre heaven, foodie heaven - planning a return at Xmas and will definitely stay at the Carlton George.
