Should there be any problems with my hotel stays I am known for writing complaints to the hotel with photo's of any dirt or issues to back up my story so I was pleased to say after staying here for 2 nights at the Glasgow Hilton I am happy to report this hotel got my both thumbs up!

I like to get a large clean room and this is what I got please read on.

On arrival by taxi I was greeted by the doorman - friendly, welcoming and helped dme with my cases. Going through the revolving doors the lobby is large, spotless. Bars are off to the right and reception is to the left.

Great that Scotland has the smoking ban inside premises as the clean within the lobby is a welcome instead of ciggie smoke.

On approaching reception I was welcomed with a smile. Check in swift with my honours card. Given a 12th floor room. This was a Queen Hilton room.

Lifts ready straight away - 3 express lifts

On entering my room I found it spacious, very clean, extra pillows that I had asked for there already and my name on the TV with another welcome.

I had a beer out of the mini bar which was ice cold this was £3.95 not too bad for a hotel.

The room was quiet, everything worked.

Lovely marble bathroom, plenty of towels. Iron, hairdryer, coffee, teat etc

Breakfast was included in my rate - A good morning from the staff there and shown to my table. Was served orange juice & coffee - topped up as and when. Self service usual Hilton breakfast - cereal, fruit, juices, cheeses, meats, fresh rolls, bread, hot breakfast and items cooked to order.

I would like to say at this Hilton the breakfast was HOT! As sometimes they can be a bit on the cold side. They have lids on all their hot items and this keeps then hot, plates are heated as well which helps keep food hot till you sit down.

Express checkout appeared overnight - no problems all correct. Popped this on the box on the way out. Doorman again helped with my cases into the taxi.

On earlier comments about the hotels location. I walked at normal pace from the hotel into Glasgow central station almost a straight route down Bothwell Street and it took me 8 mins.

In front of the Marriott hotel behind the Hilton is Anderston station or Charing Cross station up the road from the Hilton - are low level train services which can take you into Glasgow city centre both 1 stop away but then again time you walk to these you could be in town!

Taxi costs are fairly cheap £2.00 roughly when you get in and should hardly be double that price into city centre. Couple mins journey.

Hotel has great pool, sauna and steam room.

I feel other comments have been rather harsh on this property.

I found this hotel to still feel rather modern, classy, great staff and very clean. Not forgetting a lovely GOOD MORNING shout from one of the housekeeping staff on level 12 this morning!

No complaints from me.

Have stayed at the hotel many times over the years but noticed a huge difference during my last stay! rooms really starting to look tired and can be a bit smelly! Leisure club ok and breakfast still pretty good! Ordering room service after 10pm is now a real chore due to the staff barely speaking english and the food then takes an eternity to arrive! Overall still a fairly decent hotel but no longer the luxurious best hotel in glasgow it used to be!

I stay at this Hilton every month on business and I like it. I have only ever complained once and that was over sonmething trivial. I am usually roomed on the Exec floor and there is nothing to complain about.

Well what can I say after reading the review on this website I was more than a bit apprehensive, but my husband got a good deal and I thought It can't be that bad and it wasn't.
Was very happy with the location of the hotel ok it is near the M8 but you can' hear any noise in the bedrooms which are very clean and ample size for a city stay. Breakfast was great we didn't go down till 10.30 on the sunday morning (it finishes at 11.00) and ok there was a queue but there was plenty to eat and all the staff were still smiling.
check in and out were quick and efficient no problems yes the lifts were busy but when on a relaxing break relax.
I found all of the staff especially the conceirge very helpfull to the point that he went and found me a car parking space in their underground car park.
Lots and lots of choice for restaurants very near. We went to a greek on sauchiehall street called kokina and it was excellent got a taxi there and then realised how near we were so walked back. All in all had a fantastic stay, would stay here again and i am not to sure if the other people had stayed in the same hotel.

Once again I am prompted to post after reading some of the reviews here. I have just returned from a weekend in Glasgow and stayed here. I am probably in Glasgow 4-5 times a year staying in this Hilton or in the Radisson nearby.

Once again, I read the reviews here and struggle to reconcile these with the experiences I have had. These bear no resemblance to some of the stuff I read here. I find the Hilton a consistently good hotel and have always been happy to stay here.

Its a big hotel. There are at least 18 floors and a lot of people checking in and out. Therefore sometimes at checking in there can be queues, although I have never had more than a few people in front of me and this is never the issue for me it seems to be for some people.

In common with other hotels this size it will cater for conferences and functions and so the public areas can, on rare occasions be very busy. Again, these are the breaks with staying in a hotel of
this type. If its small and cozy you are after and you need to be treated like the King of Siam, don't stay in any chain hotel but a boutique one and pay accordingly.

Staff are consistently good, the breakfast and the restaurant service also good; however, why anyone (like our friend from Chicago below) would chose to sit in any hotel room in the centre of Glasgow and eat room service food is beyond me.

There are dozens of excellent restaurants catering to all tastes and price ranges within minutes of this hotel. One thing Glasgow does have in abundance are restaurants, bars, shops, museums, parkland and open spaces and to add to these very friendly welcoming people.

The HIlton is well situated to enjoy all Glasgow has to offer and offers much better than average hotel facilities at reasonable prices!
