Should there be any problems with my hotel stays I am known for writing complaints to the hotel with photo's of any dirt or issues to back up my story so I was pleased to say after staying here for 2 nights at the Glasgow Hilton I am happy to report this hotel got my both thumbs up!
I like to get a large clean room and this is what I got please read on.
On arrival by taxi I was greeted by the doorman - friendly, welcoming and helped dme with my cases. Going through the revolving doors the lobby is large, spotless. Bars are off to the right and reception is to the left.
Great that Scotland has the smoking ban inside premises as the clean within the lobby is a welcome instead of ciggie smoke.
On approaching reception I was welcomed with a smile. Check in swift with my honours card. Given a 12th floor room. This was a Queen Hilton room.
Lifts ready straight away - 3 express lifts
On entering my room I found it spacious, very clean, extra pillows that I had asked for there already and my name on the TV with another welcome.
I had a beer out of the mini bar which was ice cold this was £3.95 not too bad for a hotel.
The room was quiet, everything worked.
Lovely marble bathroom, plenty of towels. Iron, hairdryer, coffee, teat etc
Breakfast was included in my rate - A good morning from the staff there and shown to my table. Was served orange juice & coffee - topped up as and when. Self service usual Hilton breakfast - cereal, fruit, juices, cheeses, meats, fresh rolls, bread, hot breakfast and items cooked to order.
I would like to say at this Hilton the breakfast was HOT! As sometimes they can be a bit on the cold side. They have lids on all their hot items and this keeps then hot, plates are heated as well which helps keep food hot till you sit down.
Express checkout appeared overnight - no problems all correct. Popped this on the box on the way out. Doorman again helped with my cases into the taxi.
On earlier comments about the hotels location. I walked at normal pace from the hotel into Glasgow central station almost a straight route down Bothwell Street and it took me 8 mins.
In front of the Marriott hotel behind the Hilton is Anderston station or Charing Cross station up the road from the Hilton - are low level train services which can take you into Glasgow city centre both 1 stop away but then again time you walk to these you could be in town!
Taxi costs are fairly cheap £2.00 roughly when you get in and should hardly be double that price into city centre. Couple mins journey.
Hotel has great pool, sauna and steam room.
I feel other comments have been rather harsh on this property.
I found this hotel to still feel rather modern, classy, great staff and very clean. Not forgetting a lovely GOOD MORNING shout from one of the housekeeping staff on level 12 this morning!
No complaints from me.
