This hotel has been my home away from home in Glasgow as I am traveling for work. So my review will be somewhat slanted with that angle.

First impressions. If you are coming in via taxi, you may notice that you are close to the highway. Very close. The way to get to the hotel if you walk is along an on ramp and through an alley on one side, or walking along the highway on the other side. Not the grandest approach, or the most reassuring as a pedestrian at night.

The hotel itself is a standard full-service Hilton. Three restaurants/bars (Cameron's, Raffles, Minsky's). The breakfast is good (Minsky's only). The dinner selection at Minsky's is limited (buffett, steaks). Haven't tried Cameron's yet. The bar menu at Raffles should best be limited to the club sandwich.

There are also fitness facilities that I should make more use of.

The rooms themselves are good. Not great. Not particularly up to date. Don't expect Plasma/LCD TV, 120V (US) outlet (definitely a nice to have for a business traveler), or wifi. The beds are nice, along with the bath linens.

If you are a Diamond HHonors member and you don't end up on the Executive Floors, you can ask for bottled water from the concierge.

What can I say! We have just returned from a weekend stay at the Hilton and was very apprehensive after reading all the negative reviews on here, all I can say is - Wonderful! A large room , big comfy bed, absolutely spotless, best shower ever! . There was nothing I could fault. Our 2 night stay included our dinner on the first night in Minsky's - this was a real treat - large choice of starters, carvery (could have maybe done with roast chicken/turkey as a choice) and desserts to tempt anyone! Staff are all polite and helpful and any queries were answered promptly. Well worth the money we paid and we will definetly be visiting again in the very near future. If you are expecting the Ritz or Savoy type hotel then you will be disappointed but it is a very elegant, clean and well kept hotel and us, personally, would give it a definite 5 star rating!

  • Liked — Large room and very clean
  • Disliked — Could maybe do with a Television upgrade to a flat screen

Booked dinner bed and breakfast through the hilton website, arrived to room overlooking a roof. was told to choose from either minksys or camerons for dinner. As dinner was already incuded in price choose cameron resturant to my mistake as my partner and i waited ages for each course to arrive and there was only us and another couple! each course did not satisfy tried hard to enjoy but couldnt. No price was shown next to champagne thought this was part of the 'Valentine' menu later discovered each glass cost me £15 each. If i'd known that I would have enjoyed it more! My partner also recieved the wrong dish. After meal was told about a £20 allowance each that we had to pay which nobody told us about if i had known about this would have went to minskys which was £9.95 allowance even if we had'nt known about that at least there would have been a better chance of enjoying the meal. Was most annoyed went to speak to staff at reception who said they would sort it out but upon checking out recieved an £64 bill! Still paid for drinks at the end £31. The lesiure facilties was the best part of the experience.

Stayed in the Glasgow Hilton for two nights in February, to attend my daughter's wedding in the House for an Art lover.

On arrival the hotel is very welcoming, with a huge seating area in the foyer and with the added bonus of a bar. The reception staff were extremely pleasant and checked us in very promptly. We had a queen room, which consisted of a super king sized bed and a sofa bed for my 7 year old daughter. The room was very clean and more importantly (for me), the bathroom was spotless.

So many times, we have stayed in nice hotels and the bathrooms have let them down. Not this time. SPOTLESS.

The only complaint, although it maybe minor to some, was pretty huge to us, was the bed. SUPER SOFT. For those of you who are used to a very firm bed, as we are, this proved very uncomfortable and lead to two sleepless nights.

However, everything else was perfect. The restaurant was lovely and had a buffet style selection. We had a huge choice and there was something for everyone. Breakfast was along the same lines.

I must mention the in house hairdresser, who usually is closed on Mondays. However my daughter was getting married on the Monday and due to prior arrangement, the hairdresser very kindly opened up especially to do the bride's and bridesmaids hair. Thank you very much.

All in all, the Hilton Glasgow is a top class hotel and I would certainly recommend it to anyone. Had a wonderful time.

  • Liked — The large welcoming foyer with the added bonus of the Raffles bar
  • Disliked — The VERY soft bed

My husband and I stayed here for one Saturday night as a short break. I was really looking forward to staying in what is billed as a 5 star hotel. Compared to other 5 star hotels we've stayed in around the world I think this is probably a good 4 star. The room, although comfortable and clean, was average and had no wow factor. The one thing that is 5 * is the price of drink!
My husband used the leisure club and found the pool area to be a disappointment and the changing rooms small.
However, all the staff were pleasant and professional and the food package that we were on was above average albeit dinner was a buffet. The roast beef was superb and the breakfast was the best I've had in a while.
Basically, if you get a good rate this is a good base for a stay in Glasgow.
