As a long term guest at the Glasgow Hilton, I've experienced most facets of the hotel, and the fact that I keep coming back suggests that it has a lot to offer. However, like all hotels it isn't perfect.
Location could be improved on. It has a rather strange approach when walking, but I have never felt unsafe walking to or from the hotel at any time of the day or night.
Check in is decidedly average with some of the staff who struggle with the system and provide a substandard first impression. Others, however are excellent, and provide a friendly and competent welcome.
The rooms are generally large and clean. In my experience, most city centre hotels are cramped. Standard rooms at the Glasgow Hilton are large, some of the best ones (corner rooms especially) are positively huge by any standards.
The design of the bathrooms do leave a little to be desired with a fixed shower head and poor controls, especially compared to say a standard Marriott bathroom.
On balance, the coffee shop is OK for breakfast (although expensive, there is an excellent selection and quality is good), but the evening serve yourself carvery is overpriced and the quality is decidedly average. Staff turnover is high and the quality of service is variable.
For those with Hhonors gold / diamond status or who have booked executive rooms, the executive lounge is excellent. The staff are friendly and helpful, and the lounge offers complimentary bufet breakfast, afternoon tea (awesome!), early evening snacks and bar.
In summary, the hotel is not without faults, but after many months of staying there, I still keep coming back.
