It is said that the Hilton Glasgow is one of the best hotels in the city. I don’t know about that but it certainly is one of the newest. The rooms are very comfortable, the bathrooms large and the views of the city, no matter what side your room faces, is beautiful (as beautiful as it gets in Glasgow, which is not so much). The staff is extremely cordial and friendly. The breakfast buffet is excellent, one of the best I’ve had from the Hilton chain. The only bad thing I have to say about the hotel is its location. It is a little bit isolated near a highway (check Google maps satellite view). It is only a few blocks from the two train stations but walking to and from the hotel can be a little scary. Since the front of the hotel faces the highway, the only way is to walk around the hotel through a not so pretty, rather scary, alley. Be prepared to walk at least two blocks without seeing a single soul on the street. Again, it can be frightening to walk alone, especially at night. If you stay in any of the Executive floors, make sure not to take any of the bedrooms near the elevators (called “lift” in the U.K.). I stayed in one of these bedrooms during my first night and couldn’t sleep all night long due to the noise they make.
Aside from that, the Hilton Glasgow is a great hotel and I would certainly recommend it to any of my friends, as long as they are willing to pay for taxi rides to-from the hotel.
