I had to write this review after the fantastic 2 night stay at the Crowne Plaza for my nieces wedding this month. My wife and I booked a Club Room which was perfect. We used the executive lounge on our first night stay and was greeted by a pleasant hostess named Pauline, who was extremely helpful, nothing being a problem. The full hotel staff whom we came in contact with was most helpful. The bar staff was one of the most friendly we have met, I would recommend this hotel to anyone looking for a hotel to host anything. Beautiful scenery. Fantastic Hotel. Thanks to all

I was very pleased to read your great review. Thanks very much. I have also passed on your kind comments to Pauline who I know will be extremely motivated by your feedback.

I hope you had a great time at the wedding and that you will come back to visit soon.

I've been staying in Glasgow for several weeks on business and moved go the Crowne Plaza four weeks ago from a similar-priced hotel in the West End.
What a change !
This is a lovely place to stay, quiet (so rare in a city hotel) because it's on the river, and with stunning views along the Clyde.
The rooms are extremely comfortable and well equipped, and the pool is a really good size.
The staff do vary a bit - from excellent to indifferent - but I think that's to be expected of any big hotel nowadays (unfortunately). Most have been friendly and helpful, and considering some of the unreasonable requests I have seen them deal with, that's to be applauded !
For the price, I think the quality of both the food and the accommodation is superb, and if it means having no traffic noise, I'm more than happy to take a cab into town if I need to - peace and quiet is such a luxury !
Looking forward to a few more weeks here.......

Thanks for your review.

I see from a previous review you posted that noise levels are important to you. I am pleased that you appreciated our peaceful surroundings and that we are still only a few minutes taxi ride from the city centre. The views are good too!

Come back again soon.

I stayed in the Crowne Plaza as part of a delegation from my organisation attending a conference at the neighbouring SECC for 5 nights in May 2007. Whilst the rooms may be nice and the location convenient for confereneces ( if not for tourism) - this place is let down by frankly shocking service. Receptionists who carry on chatting and don't even acknowledge your presence with a hello or a hand gesture, surly staff in the bar, an impossibly long wait for tea or coffee over breakfast and again surly staff who clearly need a bit training. ( Except for Tina, the only one who smiled!) The highlight of the poor service was over dinner on my first night when I made the mistake of ordering a la carte and received an overcooked steak which when I politely queried was treated to the Fawlty Towers experience of the chef storming out of the kitchen to shout ( literally "shout") at me "if you wanted blood in your steak you should order blue not medium rare". The mind boggles, I thought it was 2007. I complained to the the duty manager about the unpleasant service and the poor food and he said that I would be contacted by the hotel manager during my stay of 5 nights. This never happened. Suffice to say, my delegation will stay elsewhere when we visit this conference in 2008. The nearby City Inn ( where we escaped to drink and eat during our stay) was far superior and a friendly modern environment with decent food.

Thankyou for taking the time to write a review.

As part of our internal communication process, your conversation with both the Chef and Guest Relations Manager was fully documented for any possible follow up required by either myself or the Resident Manager.

I am sorry that neither of the two steaks cooked for you were to your liking. I understand however that no charge was applied and we also deducted the cost of the bottle of wine as a token of our genuine regret.

I have taken your comments about the Bar, Breakfast and Reception team members on board and will address them with the respective Department Managers.

I stayed at this hotel on a bank holiday weekend and it was also the cup final so the hotel was very busy. We arrived at 11am but we were permitted to check in which was great as my husband was going to the football and i was going shopping .We were on the 11th floor which despite the hotel being busy was a very quiet rooom. It was spotlessly clean and well equipped. The bed was extremely comfy .
I used the hotels leisure facilities which were great ,swimming pool , sauna, steam room etc.
Staff were very friendly and helpful we check in and out swiftly .No complaints about this hotel at all and i will definetly use it again.

This is a super choice of hotel for many reasons.
The location: a quick cab ride to Glasgow's city centre and all other areas of the city.
The staff: polite, friendly and attentive. It pays to know what you're entitled to. We didn't find the staff very forthcoming, however, they don't hesitate to provide anything you request.
The room: very comfortable, spacious and well equipped. Mirrors, counter tops could be cleaner.
Breakfast: is it included in your room rate? Every breakfast item is available to you, and there's plenty of it. Again, you often have to hail the staff to get your tea, coffee, etc. but they'll take good care of you once you have their attention. The breakfast really sets you up for the day. We didn't have dinner but heard good reports about it.
Front desk staff: helpful with cabs, recommendations etc.
I would consider staying here again. It's ideally situated and a comfortable place to lay your head after a priceless day of sightseeing or shopping.
Do not miss the Glasgow Museum of Transport, the Kelvingrove Art Museum, The People's Palace etc. These can be reached using the Glasgow Sightseeing Tour Bus. It's a must. Give yourself two days to see it all. It's all worth it.
We also recommend taking the train from Queen Street Station to see Edinburgh Castle, Stirling Castle and the Falkirk Wheel.
There's so much more to see and do. We just ran out of time.
Finest Chinese restaurant we've dined at: Ho Wongs, York Street. You'll want to go back the next day.
