After a minor op a few weeks before, I had a fantastic 2 nights at this hotel for my birthday. We were in a refurbished room but not a club room and it was lovely. The Moat House had become tired but I would be delighted to stay here again. I used the beauty salon and the service was great. We had carvery one night and a bar meal the next, the food is excellent. Only one slight problem, the lifts. I do have a phobia but after the Scissor Sisters concert, the rudeness of other hotel guests caused me to have to walk up to floor seven via the fire exit stairs, not good after my keyhole gallbladder removal. Could the hotel perhaps have a member of staff supervising the lifts for idiots at the ground and mezzanine floor levels after a concert? The staff on charge that night didn't seem to care. The lifts are dodgy even with only 2 passengers but I shudder to think over crowded. The panaoramic lift was already out of order.

Really pleased that you enjoyed your stay despite the antics of some of our other guests. We always endeavour to ensure that guests are not inconvenienced by the over exuberance of others, there are ocassions such as this that we don't always get it right.
I'm very sorry and hope that you will come to stay with us again soon.

We ended up in a club room on the 15th floor and it was absolutely stunning, we are used to standard rooms so this was just amazing to us! The rooms have just been decorated so are modern and this one was very spacious. The 15th floor has a complimentary lounge so between 6pm and 10pm you just go in and help yourself to drinks from the fridge and you can get a continental breakfast there too.

Staff at reception were very friendly and helpful. From the town it's only 5 minutes in a taxi and will cost between £3-5 so it's in a good location.

The rooms are now much better since the CP takeover. More comtemporary and stylish. Check in/ out was quick and efficient. £3 for the car park - plenty of space. The convenience store in the lobby, although tiny is well stocked. Wasn't in the pool/ gym this time. Staff were friendly and efficient. No complaints at all. Still a good option for a central hotel in Glasgow. A short 5 minute taxi ride (£3) to the centre. Would definitely go back.

I am pleased you enjoyed your stay and liked all the improvements. Only one floor of bedrooms to do which are expected to be finished mid december. That will result in all the 283 bedrooms, 15 conference and meeting rooms and public areas including the bar and the restaurant being fully refurbished. We will upgrade the car park access early in the new year.

Thanks for your feedback.

we were there from nov 12-16 2006 for a conference. ideal location because of the adjoining clyde auditorium and the SECC. the room decor is great, food (especially the lamb) is brilliant and the staff are courteous but i recommend you book somewhere else unless you have no other choice, for the following reasons
- we got there early (11am) and were told that we could not check in until 2pm as the rooms weren't ready. no problem with that, we waited at the bar. so imagine our disappointment when we found the rooms very dusty, as if no one came in to clean for a week. i thought it was just my room but my colleagues had the same observation. the pillows had an awful scent of human sweat and sebum.
- service at the bar is slow despite three bartenders on board and only five customers waiting for drinks
- the lifts were either very slow or didn't work (it took an average of 15 minutes waiting for the doors to open and the lifts made ominous creaking sounds)
- the fire alarm kept going off 'for a drill' that week (once at 5am then several times that week). during the day they tried to disguise the sound of the alarm with random blasts of music. it's not on, especially as most of us were on the 15th floor.

we had high expectations as the hotel was recently spruced up and it has a four star rating. it has great potential but the place seems understaffed. it's sad to see that management seems to have a lackadaisical attitude with housekeeping just because the place is almost always booked thanks to conference attendees at the nearby clyde auditorium. lots of room for improvement.

Thankyou for your feedback. I was delighted to read that you found the decor great, food brilliant and staff courteous. I am sorry though that we didn't get it all right though.

I understand you were staying with us whilst attending a large conference at the SECC. I am sorry you were disturbed by the fire alarm system when we were carrying out mandatory decible testing. This is carried out by piping music through all the system speakers which I am sure you will agree is more pleasing to the ear than the sirens normally associated with a fire alarm.

As you quite correctly state, the fire alarms were activated one morning at 5am. Again, out of our control, gladly no fire was detected but I am sorry for the inconvenience caused.

There is however no excuse for the dust in your bedroom. My Housekeeper is already on the case. Please accept my apologies.

I hope that you will not be deterred from staying with us again.

We phoned "on speck" on sunday night after arriving in Glasgow - having travelled through appalling weather - to see a gig at the secc. We were offered a beautiful room with 2 double beds so it could easily accommodate our family of four at a very reasonable price. staff couldn't have been nicer and we were VERY pleasantly surprised to see the upgraded rooms from when it was the Moat House. Breakfast was lovely, the dining room being wonderful and beautifully stocked and staffed by very friendly staff. The only down side was the hotel carpark didn't seem to be exclusively for the use of hotel patrons or monitored in any way, meaning anyone could use it for a £3 fee - this would've been VERY frustrating if we'd arrived and found nowhere to park!! It was really good to see the covered walkway between the hotel and the secc open once again, it wasn't when we stayed at the Moat House. We will DEFINITELY be staying here again!
