Just back from a few days at this hotel. It's still undergoing refurbishment, so there is some noise during the days and painters in the halls. Some even directly outside my room, which I was a little surprised by!

Having said that, I enjoyed my stay. Having the pool/steam room/sauna/jacuzzi largely to myself each day made it worthwhile!

The staff weren't the most knowledgeable or helpful. For example, there was a notice in the bathroom stating that I could get cotton wool by calling reception. This turned out not to be the case, but I suspect this is merely because the man on reception didn't know where it was since there was some provided in the women's changing rooms so the hotel clearly had it!

The facilities are pretty much what you'd expect from a large corporate hotel, certainly not personal in anyway.

Im aware that Crowne Plaza Spec requires a Doorman,however on my stay there was none to be had.
(Waiting on reply from their Head Office)
Also food is the same boring stuff each night.
Could do with a proper clean (inside and out)by real cleaners, not staff who arent trained in cleaning.
Maybe the GM can clear some of this up.
However rooms are nice and modern(no faulting them) and the staff seem very enjoyable and pleasent, especially the front reception/concierge.
Nice touches like my bags being taken to my bedroom, while i had a well earned pint.

Fix the minor touches and it will be great

Great views, new rooms are very nice.Got a good deal as we were attending concert at the SECC.We will be back.

I am so glad I stayed. The hotel is currently undergoing a (much needed)refurbishment and I got one of the new rooms...excellent!

No issues at all with service, staff friendly.Hotel has a large car park and it is attached to the SECC which was good as we were attendig a concert.Will choose here again.

Very busy bar.
