This is a huge, rather ugly barn of a hotel, lots of rooms and very close to the exhibition centre. The lobby area is massive and pretty noisy (some might say atmospheric). My guess was that my visit was coinciding with some huge exhibition next door, with a bar, a posher yet overpriced restaurant and a nice swimming pool. There is also a gym, but I didn't use it. The bar menu is good, and I liked my steak and ale pie, even if it was a bit expensive for essentially pub food. Breakfast excellent, masses of choice including some stuff that explains why the Scots have such appalling heart disease rates.
The room was very hot, but I find this in general in hotels and I wish they would put more thought into this everywhere. It is like there is a fear of people being cold, so they overcompensate. Mastering the heating controls is a pain if you are there for just the one night, but it makes for an comfortable one if you don't, and wasteful of energy into the bargain. The lifts were out of order, which was a pain, and some of the signage relating to this was incomplete and ambiguous. £12 for 24hrs worth of internet is a rip off, and again I wish some hotels would sort this out. It isn't difficult or expensive to supply.
The hotel stacks up pretty well considering the worst thing about it is the view of Glasgow where it always seems to be raining. If you have to go there, you can book in here and never have to deal with the city. The service is professional, to the point where it is easy to forget the problems of Sctoland and where you are.
