This hotel has been refurbished which is great but it seems in the clear out it lost all its charm!!!

Myself and my partner stayed at this hotel several times while it was Jurys. we stayed through Beatson as i was recieving treatment for cancer, during my months in the hotel i came to fall in love with the atmosphere, there would always be something happening it was a busy little place also the staff would have done anything for you, Nancy and Maureen were so charming and it was refreshing to see such experience in these ladies. the staff always had a smile for you no matter how busy they were, and everybody knew what they where doing.

However on my return trip i did find that the hotel has been nicely refurbished but the staff where terrible, from the moment i arrived i noticed the difference for the worse, i had to walk the entire parimiter of the hotel since the entrance from the main road had been blocked off. When entering the reception i was expecting the friendly little faces i would have always seen ,instead i was met by an empty reception desk, after 4 minutes some sleepy eyed young man in a suit stumbled out.

check in was cold and rude.

The bar person (middle aged woman) couldn't recommend me something from the bar menu which i found very strange, therefore ididn't order anything.

Breakfast was very cold

Overall i wouldn't stay again the hotel was nicer that it was but that wasn't enough, the management of this hotel really need to pull up there socks and instead of spending money on fancy televisions invest in service.

We booked for a one night stop over. It was easy to find although looked a little bleak on the outside. It also looked a little out of the way. However inside the reception area was pleasant clean and modern as was the bedroom . We enjoyed the walk past lovely old houses into the city with a good choice of bar and eating places. we didn't eat at the hotel in the evening.
Breakfast was good with a huge choice including fresh fruit, haggis and black pudding, but no porridge! Guess you can't have everything!

my husband and i have just returned from 3 nights in the pond hotel. the outside of the hotel was a little drab but as soon as we entered the lobby and where greeted by the frendly receptionist we knew we had made a good choice. the hotel has just had a face lift and is modern and comfortable. we arrived very early and where delighted to get our room straight away. the room was facing the pond and busy road but could not hear any road noise. the double room was fresh and well decorated with crisp sheets and big pillows. we enjoyed the food in the bar which was very tasty and reasonable. the buffet breakfast was also very good and the staff in both the bar and resturant where 5 star. will defently stay in this hotel again.
