Stayed here for a girlie weekend in Glasgow. The hotel was lovely and clean and nice and modern. Sparkling bathroom! Only used the hotel as a base to stay at. There did not seem to be much life about it but this didn’t bother us as we were out in the city centre at night and shopping during the day!

The number 66 runs outside the hotel opposite the filling station and this bus takes you right into the City centre and the central train station in about 20mins. The West end is a lovely place plenty of quirky restaurants and bars to visit! If you don't like walking or bussing it maybe this hotel would be a little far out for you! Great Marks&Spencer Simply Food Opposite hotel as part of the filling Station!

So in summary it was a basic hotel but adequate for a cheap weekend!

The Pond is ideally located if you plan to visit the West End of Glasgow, and is great value. From other reviewer’s comments, it's clear that the hotel has been refurbished recently, with all public areas looking great. My bedroom on the 3rd floor was equally impressive, with a gleaming bathroom, tea & coffee facilities and an LCD TV. I couldn't fault any of the facilities on offer.
Our welcome on arrival was warm and friendly. I confirmed that our booking had been made, and paid for, through lastminute.com. I was happy to provide my credit card so that my family could charge drinks to the room bill.
I then spent the evening in the West End, returning to the hotel just after 11pm. The hotel was very quiet, but despite the bar being closed, as residents, we were able to get a drink before retiring.
Sunday morning, and its breakfast time - with some orange juice and coffee desperately needed for rehydration purposes. Unfortunately, just as I arrived, the orange juice jug was emptied, and the large and fancy hot drinks dispenser decided it was taking a break, and popped the "out of order" words onto its display. I reported the fault to a member of the waiting staff team, who nodded and smiled, and then carried on with clearing dishes. For the next 10 minutes, a stream of guests went up to the drinks dispenser, pressed buttons, looked quizzical, and tried to get help. Regrettably, the majority of the staff on hand were either inexperienced or had language difficulties. At this point, enter the whirling dervish of a duty manager and in a flurry of activity, he has the orange juice refreshed, and is efficiently going around every table offering coffee from a batch made in the kitchen. A great recovery, and done with a smile, a friendly word to everyone, and a great Glasgow personality.
Check out time. Remember that on arrival I had confirmed my room was bought and paid for via lastminute.com? My bill now showed a charge for the room, and after much discussion, and some deep reservations on my part, I agreed to the charge until I could verify that lastminute.com had in fact charged my credit card.
Half an hour later, after a bit of web surfing and a call to lastminute.com, it was clear that the Pond shouldn't have charged me for the room. A return visit to the Pond was necessary, but all is well now and my card has been refunded.
All in all, the Pond hotel is a great place to put your head down for the night, but be prepared for some shortcomings in the service area.

You are meet by a big enterance will lovely staff at the desk. Our rooms were lovely and big.

Food was great and breakfasts were nice with lots of choice.

Hotel has great bus links into the town (But make sure you have the right money as they don't give change) and huge car park so no worries there.

  • Liked — The fire in the enterance hall
  • Disliked — Nothing

Was in Glasgow for a concert at Hampden Park. Stayed here as hubby wanted somewhere safe to park his car.

We were booked into room 120 - the front of the hotel. Right beside the fan extractors ..........!! Got back to the hotel around midnight and tried to sleep - the noise from outside the window didnt help. At 3am I had enough and went down to reception - the guy was kind and switched off the extractors. Ahhh peace perfect peace and sleep came at last!!

As for the room, it was nice, big, clean and hubby loved the LCD tv!! No biccies but plenty tea, coffee things. Asked for more milk and got a bundle - no problems.

If you go to the car park, up the stairs to M&S, you get a bus across the road to the centre of Glasgow. We got the "East Kilbride" bus and it was £1.30 per person for a single fare. The taxi at night was £6.80 total.

Breakfast is a buffet self service thing. It was busy and I saw people going for for a few servings, so management dont limit you to one helping!!

  • Liked — Hotel was actually ok ...............
  • Disliked — Extractors outside our window!!

Chose this hotel because it accepted dogs, previous experience of such hotels has been either a poor room or a surcharge, not so here. Stayed with my wife for two nights in a good sized room, largish multi channel LCD TV was appreciated. The staff were excellent as was the general appearance of the room and communal areas. I believe the whole hotel has now been refurbished, negating some of the earlier criticisms of it's appearance. Had evening meals on both nights which were well prepared and presented. A self service cooked breakfast was included in my booking though I understand there is sometimes a charge for this depending on the booking offer.
The hotel is situated on the main road between the city centre and Dumbarton, the centre is ten minutes away by car, I didn't find it noisy as one reviewer experienced. There's a large ornamental lake outside for either a pleasant evening stroll or a decent dog walk. En route to the city, five minutes away, is the Botanical Garden which is worth look ing in on. In all a pleasant and hassle free experience.
