We have stayed twice now and there's no question about the convenience for the train stations, plus two blocks away is a bus stop for Glasgow airport that'll get you there in a flash.
The hotel, the former Central Station Hotel (it's adjacent to the Central Station and a block or so from Queen Street), is a big, grand Victorian relic that is charming in its own way. The Quality chain don't really know what a gem they've got. They have tried to bland it out with their new, dull lobby and cheap room furnishings. But there is still the immense old staircase and huge hallways, and an air of exotic travel from days gone by. Breakfast is a huge buffet with big, greasy platters and crocks, quantity over quality; again somewhat charming in a period-piece way. There's always cereal and fruit if you need to be de-greased.
The Quality website is awful and didn't work. I wound up telephoning and the customer service person here in the states barely knew it was their hotel; I had to guide her through the website info. Another downside is having to confirm when reserving, and the good rates are entirely non-refundable.
The only other downside is that the vicinity is overrun with crazed drunk teenagers on weekend nights. Quite a show!
