I was going to Glasgow for a wedding, and changed my hotel at the last minute (Ihad previously booked the Jury's at Great Western Road, but after reading the reviews of this hotel posted on TripAdvisor, I decided that wasn't a good idea!) The company I was booking with suggested the Quality Hotel as an alternative on the basis that it had recently been refurbished.

Overall, I would say my feelings regarding our three night stay at this hotel were positive. The only thing I can really complain about is the fact that the receiption staff, upon check in, did not provide us with adequate information. We had to go back later and ask about things like where/when to get breakfast, how to access leisure facilities, check out time etc. The room was nice enough/clean enough, even if it was at the end of a poorly lit, dreary corridor. The breakfast was good, although we noticed several people, like ourselves, using napkins to handle the plates at the buffet, as they were far too hot. A good selection of food was available.

The fitness suite is in the basement of the hotel, along another austere, windey corridor. The gym has a large selection of exercise equipment, but really would benefit from some new flooring and a lick of paint. The pool is very small, but nicely maintained. There is also a jacuzzi, sauna, and a rather hunky receiptionist!

The Quality Hotel is in a great location - perfect to access the great shopping facilities in Saucihall and Argyle Streets. They will also validate your ticket for the NCP car park in Oswald Street, so that you can park there for £5 a day (this is quite cheap for Glasgow) If you don't need parking, leisure facilities or breakfast, book a travel lodge - you'll get the same type of room for £40 less!

I have to say that I am fairly easy going when it comes to hotels - they don't have to be plush with fluffy bath robes nor posh toiletries as long as the rooms are clean, that is okay. BUT the Quality Hotel was disgusting. Our room (236) - the bathroom was disgusting. We had mould on the walls and floors but even worse - on our towel radiator!! Then as soon as we put the taps on in the sink, it started to overflow and then a small amount of vomit came back up the plughole!! (Not ours I hasten to add!). Our shower head was cracked and old which resulted in the ceiling becoming soaked as well as the floor and unfortunately it didn't fit it's holder so if you were dreaming of standing under a lovely warm shower you had no chance. It was more of a manul painful task. We did complain and as a result we didn't get moved but a plumber mended the shower and sink. We were on a weekend away with others and naturally didn't want to cause to much of a stir but the icing on the cake was when we left. We had a call from a frosty receptionist clearly asking us to leave the room as checkout was at 11am (it was nearly 11.30am). However when I replied we would be half an hour and in light of our complaints and endurance, she replied that it wasn't good enough which was leading to an additional charge being incurred. As you can imagine, the response she received was very blunt (although I still managed to remain polite)

I live in Scotland and i am ashamed this is the kind of acommodation the Scottish Tourist Board is allowing to run in our fabulous city of Glasgow. My fiance and i booked this hotel for a night to visit the Pavilion theatre which by the way is a great night out! We arrived at 12pm to be told our room was not ready although check in time is 12 the reception staff did take our cases and we went shopping to return at 3pm and our room along with about 30 other people in receptions rooms still were not ready!! After waiting for another 30 mins we got our room and thats when the fun really began!

It was disgusting with a view onto a kitchen extractor chimney i immediately returned to reception to complain we were then moved to another room which was so much more disgusting than the original i was waiting on Jeremy Beadle jumping out from the ancient wardrope!!! I refused this sad excuse for a replacement and was told there were no more rooms. I phoned round other hotels but no rooms were vacant so i had to return to the original room and endure the Quality Hotel. As a good will gesture i was given a warm bottle of white wine!! GREAT!!

This hotel is DIRTY and rundown the breakfast was even worse, i love a good scottish breakfast but i sat down and didn't eat a thing as i was worried for my health! even the rats would get ill from this food! The only good thing about this Hotel is the bar stays open till the last guest goes to bed which is always a plus!!! I paid £80 for my rank rotten room and if i had researched better i could have got a room at the Jurys Inn for £70 which is a far superior hotel only 5 min away!! I think the Quality Hotel stole the photos on the net from some other hotel!! CHOOSE TO IGNORE THIS ADVICE AT YOUR OWN PERIL!! DO NOT STAY HERE!!

On first arriving at the quality hotel, we were impressed with the impressive exterior. That was it. On arriving, we were told that the room wouldn't be ready till 12. fair enough, we came back at 12.30, thinking we had gave them plenty of time. We waited for an additional hour, which at that point, we got fed up, and complained at reception. On arrival to our room, I have to say that it wasn't too bad, although a far cry from the luxurious surroundings suggested in advertisements for the hotel. When we opened the bathroom door, however, we got somewhat of a shock. It was like something out of a horror film to say the least.Mouldy, dark, and ancient. As for the leisure facilities, you had to walk down a dark, creepy little corridor for ages, only to come across what i couldn't even describe as a swimming pool, and mediocre leisure facilities. Another point to note is not to take the lift, as on two occasions we got stuck in it!!The staff have to be among the most unpleasant I have ever seen, particularly in the bar area(which was one of the most uneventful places I have ever been to)In conclusion, the only positive thing that the quality hotel has is it's location, but it's definately not worth the money!

Booked the hotel for a two-night leisure trip to Glasgow. Having experienced many railway hotels before I assumed it would be either upgraded or of an acceptable standard. Requested no-smoking room.

On arrival given smoking room. Relatively quickly changed. However, on return to the hotel after eating out for dinner, discovered that "a guest in the room above had let the bath overrun" - carpet sodden, bathroom flooded and effluent backing up in the toilet. No effort had been made to draw attention to this problem.

Moved to freezing room - heating not working so the fan heater solution offered. No extra blankets. Bathroom door handle came off in my hand. Bathmat covered in mould.

Breakfast poor at best: billed as Scottish but no sign of anything that could be described as local food. Staff not at all happy to have their attention drawn to out-of-date butter (a mere three months).

No real apologies - attitude of staff probably stems from working in a hotel that is a disgrace to Glasgow and Scotland.

Advice to potential guests: plenty of other hotels in Glasgow - virtually all of which will make you feel welcome and give you better value.

Advice to management: get a grip or sell a wonderful property to someone who could restore it to its former glories.
