I was going to Glasgow for a wedding, and changed my hotel at the last minute (Ihad previously booked the Jury's at Great Western Road, but after reading the reviews of this hotel posted on TripAdvisor, I decided that wasn't a good idea!) The company I was booking with suggested the Quality Hotel as an alternative on the basis that it had recently been refurbished.
Overall, I would say my feelings regarding our three night stay at this hotel were positive. The only thing I can really complain about is the fact that the receiption staff, upon check in, did not provide us with adequate information. We had to go back later and ask about things like where/when to get breakfast, how to access leisure facilities, check out time etc. The room was nice enough/clean enough, even if it was at the end of a poorly lit, dreary corridor. The breakfast was good, although we noticed several people, like ourselves, using napkins to handle the plates at the buffet, as they were far too hot. A good selection of food was available.
The fitness suite is in the basement of the hotel, along another austere, windey corridor. The gym has a large selection of exercise equipment, but really would benefit from some new flooring and a lick of paint. The pool is very small, but nicely maintained. There is also a jacuzzi, sauna, and a rather hunky receiptionist!
The Quality Hotel is in a great location - perfect to access the great shopping facilities in Saucihall and Argyle Streets. They will also validate your ticket for the NCP car park in Oswald Street, so that you can park there for £5 a day (this is quite cheap for Glasgow) If you don't need parking, leisure facilities or breakfast, book a travel lodge - you'll get the same type of room for £40 less!
