I had read many dire reviews as well has the article in a Scottish news paper. between the 6 of us staying we had three separate rooms one on the "second" floor and two on the 4th. My grandparents room was beautiful, fresh furnishing and a huge bathroom. Our room on the same floor was more simplistic, but clean and perfectly acceptable for the length of our stay and the price we paid. I would say the room on the "second" floor (I use quotations as it was really 4 floors up, above reception, bar level and one other level of rooms below) was the worst but only as a large group of football supporters were also staying there and the furnishing seemed much older then that of our floor, yet still clean. All rooms had clean sheets and a comfortable bed. The hotel is massive and could do with a lot of money being invested to update some of the rooms and facilities such as Bar and Lifts(only two were in service yet came quickly when button was pressed). Saying that it is clean and central as well as being great value for a night in the city. If you are wanting a luxury hotel i suggest you go else were, but if you want clean, secure accommodation at a reasonable price this is the hotel for you.
