Stayed in this hotel last night, and could not fault it. The rooms and bathrooms were clean and tidy, no falling down walls, ceilings, doors...
The place is an old building yes, the corridors are long and narrow, but it is riddled with history. Take just a moment to realise that with 222 rooms, yes the carpets on the stairs may become a little worn, the lift might not be spotless, but the building is stunning.
As for the earlier comment about prostitutes, this is to be expected in many hotels in cities. I'm sure they don't welcome them with open arms, but you cannot refuse someone entry because they may or may not look like a hooker on a mission to find a person who has booked a room for the hour.
Central stastion may be a dangerous place at night, but few places are not in such a city.
Sure, the leisure area is closed, but i am sure when it re opens there will be no compaints about any improvements made
I would reccomend this hotel to my friends, family, and everyone else.
It is a beautiful building full of character and history, to say this builing should be knocked down is a disgrace in my world, take just a moment to appreciate its beauty!
A lovely hotel with great staff and CLEAN ROOMS!!!
Give it a go and see for yourself

On arrival the door from the station was broken and open, stayed that way. One of the lifts was not working then two the sign on the third always showed the basement but the lift worked. Some staff were helpful [offered me a bar of soap as there was no shower gel left in the hotel] others were far from helpful. The bath was green at the tap from a constant leak that had obviously not been repaired for a long time. The window did not shut properly and the noise from a disco in Hope street was bad. There were chips on the stairs a guest must have left from the previous night. The carpets were threadbare on the stairs with stair rods missing [dangerous]. Have to be honest and say that the staff the food and the service in the dinning room were good. Would not advise anyone goes there until there are repairs to the ceilings, carpets, lifts. It may be better when the fitness area is working, it also was out of order. It would also help if some bulbs were put in the light sockets in the rooms

  • Liked — helpful staff in dinning area
  • Disliked — large dirty hotel with broken doors, lifts, lights, worn carpets and patched ceilings

Our initial thoughts on arriving at this hotel were that it was a bit shabby in the reception area. There was a sign stating that the pool area was closed and one of the lifts was out of order so not the best start!

But it was to get much worse when we were shown our rooms. My room had no curtains or blind in the bathroom and overlooked varios other buildings with windows dircetly opposite, just feet away, so I would have been exposing myself to the whole of Glasgow! The bed covers were also stained and the room smelt of stake ciggarettes. Tea & coffee is provided but there are notices warning not to drink the water!

The second room was even shabbier with wallpaper hanging off and grey stains down the wall and stained blankets at the end of the bed. Hairdryers are provided but they are about as much use as a hand held fan. This room also overlooked the station platform so was also really noisy.

The third room was worse still, it stank and had stains on the bed and televison. The bathroom ceiling and walls were covered in black mould and the toilet was overflowing. This room was so bad that it caused one of the girls to have an asthma attack.

Needless to say we all checked out immediately and were told by a local cabbie that it was often used by prostitutes and the station (which opens directly into the hotel) is very dangerous after dark.

The prices are astronomical given the state of the place do not stay here whatever you do.
