“Charles Rennie Mackintosh rekindled”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed December 22, 2013

The House for an Art Lover was a Charles Rennie Mackintosh design in 1901 for a German competition which he won (sort of). It was finally built between 1989 and 1996. It's great to see one of his designs as it would have looked new. I highly recommend a visit if you have been already.

“Always excellent”

My favorite place for lunch. Food always delicious and service polite and prompt. I also enjoy browsing the shop. The house itself is beautiful and the surroundings picturesque.

“Mackintosh recreation in wonderful setting”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 25, 2013

Beautifully reconstructed Mackintosh Building in lovely parkland setting. Excellent audio guide to accompany visit. Lovely to be able to wander freely and in peace amongst the beautifully recreated rooms typical of everything that represents Macintosh. Excellent cafe menu. Varied in price but always fresh flavoursome and beautifully presented. Interesting shop with finer Scottish gifts on offer.

“A Real Treat”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 25, 2013

As a McIntosh fan I really enjoyed visiting this house. The outside is interesting and the interior is stunning. It is best to check in advance as they frequently hold wedding receptions there.

There is also an excellent café.
